did as she was told and endorse Sen. Obama. She is getting lots of love from his groupies now. If he loses the general election, I am sure that there will be no shortage of Obama lovers who will blame her for it. I cannot wait to hear all of you unity bellyachers throwing shots at her if he loses because it will be her fault because Clinton is Judas and Obama is Jesus. She should have thought twice before making a fool of herself because she is already being denounced for not kissing his ass enough, so you can only imagine what they will say if Obama loses. I wonder if Obama will be so magnanimous if he loses and tells his supporters to blame the electorate, not Clinton.
I do not take orders from Clinton, I just wanted to vote for her. She can tell me to vote for Obama but that does not mean I will. I do not want him to be president because I do not think he can steer the country in the right direction. Just because you can get on a ship does not mean you can man it. I think McCain would be an unmitigated disaster too. I do not think either will be an effective executive at all and foresee only bad things. On paper, Sen. Obama is much closer to my values than Sen. McCain, with whom I have nothing in common. But I am sick of compromising and voting for the lesser of two evils. I know you guys who like Obama do not see him as the lesser of two evils, but he is to me. I hope that enough Clinton supporters break off from the party and form a more independent voting bloc. I think the Europeans have it right. They are not trapped in a de facto two party system and their parliaments have to work to form actual governing coalitions.
We need a new party on the left. Clinton supporters who will not join the Obama campaign are still liberals just as the voters who supported Nader over Gore are liberals.I reserve my right to eat at the liberal table and I am not going to be browbeaten. I am a gay black woman who does not want Obama. If we look at this race just in terms of civil liberties, I have more at stake than the majority of the people on this site. The government wants to regulate my body, wants to deny my right to enter into a contractual marriage agreement, wants to ignore that if I worked in certain fields could potentially only earn 75 cents for every dollar my male counterpart earns. I cannot tell you how angry it makes me that my partner and I have to carry around legal documents memorializing our relationship in the event one of us takes ill (I have health problems). Aside from those very personal issues, I cannot stand what I see happening to my fellow citizens on this planet or to the planet. I think that we are at a dangerous point right now. But, I have always managed to keep myself in line by following the adage that it is when the stakes are highest that I must stay truest to my principles.
What do I want? I want there to be an American political landscape that represents all of us, not only those of us who are willing to adopt the two party system. I do not think the two party system has served us well. It is the two party system that has allowed someone like Joe Lieberman to be the most powerful person in the Congress. There were 18 million people who voted for Sen. Clinton and we were not all toothless and uneducated. Most will go along with the Democratic party, but I suspect many, like me, will not. Sen. Clinton may still be a member of the Democratic party, but the Democratic party no longer represents many of her followers. I am more liberal than your average person and I guess I could hold my nose and vote for Obama, but I am sick of holding my nose. I want to see the person who comes forward and harnesses the energy and votes of people like myself.
I do extend all congratulations to Sen. Obama and the people who love him. I just do not extend my vote.
We Clinton supporters should not be bullied or guilt tripped by these Obama groupies. Do not leave this or other sites because Obama's groupies throw temper tantrums and call you names like they are little kids. Take comfort in the fact that none of the punks would say it to your face. Let them throw 18 million temper tantrums: one for all of us.
