Clinton would be playing right into Obama's hands if she took this role. She would have a job for four years at most. She would keep her job at his pleasure. Obama and his supporters have nothing but contempt for Sen. and Pres. Clinton, so if he picked her only to dick her over in a few years, they would cheer. They would love to see Sen. Clinton jobless and essentially out of politics for good. If Sen. Clinton takes the job, Pres. Clinton would have to shut down his Global Initiative because the conflicts of interest would be too broad for him to keep it up and running . Obama and his supporters would love it if Bill Clinton could no longer help the poor people in the world, oppressed and ignored people of Africa, and impoverished and sick children across the globe. It would take Clinton years to get it back on the ground and who's to say if it would ever be as prominent or successful. Since Obama and his groupies think that the Clintons are unethical, corrupt, entitled, racists, I can understand how they would enjoy to see these two people taken down and tossed into the dust bin of history despite any good works they do now or in the future. Or, they may think that Bill Clinton does not actually do anything with his charity and is skimming off the top. Either way, they want them gone. I can understand wanting a politician one loathes off the scene. No one would be happier than me if Sarah Palin and George Bush disappeared never to be seen or heard from again.
Clinton should keep her job in the Senate. She would have job security and would not have to take orders from Obama. She should accept the fact that Obama and his groupies have forever tarnished her reputation and if she buys into their shit, she will always have to prove that she is a good sport by bending over backwards to accommodate him. She should become a maverick and cause trouble for Obama except on the issues of health care, the rights of women and children. Other than that, she should break with the party and fail to show up for a vote when Republicans threaten to filibuster. If she fails to show, it is likely that the Democratic caucus would be unlikely to invoke cloture to end the debate. She could force the Senate Democrats hand to see if they are willing to go for the nuclear option and vote for a rule change. If Obama can get away with not showing up to the US Senate and choosing to vote "present" on controversial issues in the Illinois State Senate, then why can't Sen. Clinton do the same.
Pres. and Sen. Clinton have nothing to lose. Obama, his supporters, and his groupies in the media painted the Clintons as racists who had nothing to offer to the US. Sen. Clinton should quietly obstruct and undermine Obama's presidency. She should avoid being a loudmouth about it like Lieberman and refuse to answer questions about it. She shouldn't allow Obama to pass legislation of any historical significance. She should make Obama and the Democrats who stabbed her in the back during the primaries beg and kowtow to her, then watch as the blogosphere turns on him (they already hate her). What will her fellow Democrats do to her that they haven't already done? Will they strip her of her committees? Maybe, but they did not punish Lieberman. Then again, they hate her more than they hate him, but so what? They'll never like her, they'll never respect her, and they'll never care about her. She will have the support of Lieberman and Republicans when she obstructs Obama and they'll congratulate her for having principles and the courage of her convictions. She can claim that she is putting principles over party.
If Clinton takes the SoS position, I will have as little respect for her as the blogosphere will have for Obama if he comes under the thumb of Clinton. I hope she gets back a shred of her self-respect and make herself relevant again. Right now, she looks like a puppet dancing on Obama's string and I am rapidly losing respect for her.
