I have come to a point I never thought I would come to: I am not going to boycott the election because I would gargle Drano before I would sit by and let a creature as wretched as Sarah Palin hold any national office because it would mean she would have governance over me.
Obama looks like he is trying to talk with a mouth full of m&ms these days. All the "ums" and the stumbling is making him look so flummoxed. Biden, who has always been a man who only takes his foot out of his mouth so that he can ramble on, is somehow even more off target than usual.
They need to send the surrogates out on a seek and destroy mission on every talk show. Those surrogates need to toss out the talking points and pull out the flame throwers. They need to bring up highly controversial, but true things. They need congresswomen to go on three shows a night and talk about how when Palin was mayor of whatever town it was, women who were rape victims had to pay for their own rape kits. That person should talk about how Palin wanted them to try to pass the 1200 dollar cost on to their health insurance or pay it themselves. This is such an inflammatory story and Palin and McCain would have no choice but to stop their little victory tour and respond. If they do not respond, there should be a demand that they do.
When the rape story is done, then Jewish surrogates need to hit the national news, and the Florida news market in particular, to talk about Palin having been in church about 2 weeks ago when the founder of Jews for Jesus declared that Israel deserves terrorist attacks because Jews have not recognized Jesus as their savior. Because this incident is new, fresh, and we know Palin was there and never denounced it, there is considerable hay to be made over such outrageous statements. Again, there should be Obama surrogates on as many channels as possible frothing at the mouth and seething over that. It is not a small issue and it would go straight to their terrorism fighting credentials. It might just bring things back into play in Florida by putting Jewish voters, who have a problem with Obama's name and believe that he is against Israel, in a position of deciding between a guy with a funny name and a ticket with a person who has no problem with the concept of Israel deserving terrorism. The Obama camp could follow that up with a hard push by appearances at temples and other gatherings of Jewish voters who might be open again to Obama's message. There should be a demand that Palin explain herself.
Send Jim Webb out to fume over Sarah Palin's affiliation with a secessionist movement. She was a member of that party, gave money to them, and gave a speech before them earlier this year. Send that naval veteran out to tell the world that he does not like the idea of us having a vice president who has not always seen the benefit of being a member of this union. Tell him to say he cannot buy "country first" from someone who thinks her state should not be a member of the union and that he is upset that his fellow navy veteran, Sen. McCain, has not denounced it and call on Palin to explain herself.
The Obama camp then needs to have Sen. Obama out pounding the pavement to talk about how he wants us to get from under the thumb of the Chinese. He should actually use the phrase "they sold us to China." Surrogates should go on television and drop bombshell language that gets the attention of everyone. Explain that the Republicans and their war have indebted us to China to the tune of trillions of dollars by creating the war in Iraq so that we would have to pay their private contractor buddies. It never hurts to have someone go on the air and say that China will take our place in the world and every week that the war goes on is another billion we owe to the Chinese, that we cannot stand up to them because they might call in our loans, and that we cannot stand up for the economic rights of workers because Bush sold us to China. I rather like the sound of "they say they want to break our addiction to foreign oil and they want to keep us hooked on Chinese money!" That would play in places like Michigan and Pennsylvania. Indeed, it might behoove Obama, to roll up his shirtsleeves, walk into a factory, and lose his temper about this issue a little bit. It would do him well to show those people he is angry for them and get off this "too cool for school" vibe he is giving off.
I would say that 99.9 % of the public do not understand why the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac gaffe was so huge and even if you explained it to them, by the time you did, the punch would already be gone. Simple, outrageous things get the attention of our largely ignorant and easily manipulated voting public. The Republicans understand that Americans are emotional, sensitive, and needy people who are pathetic enough to be upset if they have a president who is smarter or better educated than they are. American voters are easy and quick to have their feelings hurt and feel better if someone "just like them" is in office. It is as dumb as it is reality.
