Everyone is acting is if Obama is the first person in the world to give this speech and to call for social justice. The NAACP has been holding conventions for a long time and Obama is not the first one to come through with speeches insisting that blacks can do better and that people died for our right to vote, the death of the four little girls, the Rosa Parks story, etc.

I am so sick and tired of people acting as if he is the only person to have given an eloquent and broad reaching speech on these issues. Cornell West is a far more compelling, informed, and credible speaker if we are talking about speaking to the "black community." I do not consider Barry Come Lately to be a spokesman for me and I dislike his citation of history that has nothing to do with him or his racial legacy in this country. Naturally, the NAACP has had white speakers, biracial speakers, and speakers of all creeds, colors, and faiths. But, I do not like when Obama, a man who is a post-diaspora biracial man, speaking about "our" children. Michelle's children, sure. But, his horning in on a legacy (slavery, share cropping, lynching, Jim Crow) that is not his, is offensive. It turns me off to him more and more.

And please stop comparing him to be the same as Dr. King. First of all, Dr. King is man whom Obama would have been chastising because he was a serious philanderer. More importantly, King lived under the gun and endured things Obama will never understand or suffer.

I am sick of this man who is not black lecturing black people. He may self-identify as black, but this was the guy who went by the name Barry when it suited him to pass as white and then went by Barack when he wanted to lower himself to be with blacks and get their votes. I know a lot of you are frothing at the mouth about the cover of the New Yorker, but I would suggest they read the story. It will probably upset Obama supporters more than the cartoon itself. Please read about how your beloved new politics saint is nothing more than a manipulative insider who plays the game.
