When there are no women and no people of color having a conversation about race and gender.
As someone pointed out on another comment section, Sen. Obama does not meet the 1/8 threshold to qualify as black. His mom is white and his dad is of Arab descent. There is nothing wrong with not being black. I know it is less sexy because white people think that this will cleanse them of the stain of racism, but saying so does not make it so. If he files any legal paperwork claiming to be black, he could be committing perjury...
Anyway, today is a sad day for me and people like me. For once, I have to become totally disconnected from political news because I cannot stand seeing that sanctimonious Obama or his supporters on television or reading about them. I am not going to vote for McCain and I will always attack him because I do not like what he stands for. But, I am going to encourage all of my fellow Clinton supporters to stay home, keep their pocketbooks and wallets closed, and let the Obama supporters go ahead without them. We have been called racists (I am a black woman, so I do not know how that applies to me), antiquated, useless, etc. As I told someone else, no one here pays my bills or eats my pussy, so I do not give a fuck. But I think we Clintonites should do what the media and Obama camp have been clamoring for for so long: go away. Stay away from the convention, use money you would have donated to buy a loved one a present, and, most importantly, stay home on Election Day. I tip my hat to the Obama groupies and to Sen. Obama. I will respect your requests and keep my black ass home. I hope Clinton supporters have the self-respect to do the same.
I think Clinton supporters, like myself, should do as we have been asked and leave the Democratic party. We should not be bullied into voting for Senator Obama now. Obama groupies have told Senator Clinton and her supporters to step aside, get out of the way, and let him take over the party. I say we do just that. And we should take our votes with us and forge another party. Not because we are mad at Senator Obama, but because we can make something different. I no longer feel welcome in the party.
I do not know why it is Senator Clinton's problem that her voters do not want to vote for Obama. Unlike Obama groupies, we do not see Sen. Clinton as the messiah whom we must obey. She can throw her arms around him if she wants to, but that does not mean I will.
Can the Obama supporters PLEASE stop telling us to "vote our conscience" and support Obama? It is so arrogant and presumptuous. First you guys want us out of your way, now you want us back so you can have our votes. No thanks. I do not feel that a vote for Obama is a vote that would be rooted in my conscience. Maybe the Democratic party could use a little "tough love" from Clinton supporters so that the party leadership can see that we won't just be swept aside.
I am certain that Sen. Obama has a ton of women who support him. I just think that voters like myself should leave a party that clearly wants our votes but not our voices, that is all. I do not want to vote for McCain but I do not want Obama. I feel like a Nader voter who did not feel included in the Democratic party. And, I deeply regret heaping scorn upon them when Gore did not win in 2000. They had a right to their vote and they were not obligated to elect the candidate of my choice because I arrogantly assumed what I wanted was best for the world or for them to attain their goals. I am not obligated to elect the candidate of your choice.
I do not want to go along with a choice I reject and I do not want to be in a party that rejects me. I am not much for abusive relationships. Other Clinton supporters can bend over and take it from Obama groupies if they want. But, I will by no means be bullied into worshiping Obama or voting for him just because a bunch of internet thugs call me names they would not have the nerve to say to my face.
