Yet one more thing...
[Read the article: George W. Bush explains the separation of powers]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]...that Dubya does NOT "fully understand" -- obviously an ever-expanding list.
Here's a novel idea -- why not see what the U.S. Constitution says about the powers of Congress? Here is verbatim text from Section 8, which delineates its powers (excerpted, of course, to provide the most relevant sections):
- - - - -
The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States; but all duties, imposts and excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;
To define and punish piracies and felonies committed on the high seas, and offenses against the law of nations;
To declare war, grant letters of marque and reprisal, and make rules concerning captures on land and water;
To raise and support armies, but no appropriation of money to that use shall be for a longer term than two years;
To provide and maintain a navy;
To make rules for the government and regulation of the land and naval forces;
To provide for calling forth the militia to execute the laws of the union, suppress insurrections and repel invasions;
To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the militia, and for governing such part of them as may be employed in the service of the United States, reserving to the states respectively, the appointment of the officers, and the authority of training the militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress;
To exercise exclusive legislation in all cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten miles square) as may, by cession of particular states, and the acceptance of Congress, become the seat of the government of the United States, and to exercise like authority over all places purchased by the consent of the legislature of the state in which the same shall be, for the erection of forts, magazines, arsenals, dockyards, and other needful buildings;--And
To make all laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into execution the foregoing powers, and all other powers vested by this Constitution in the government of the United States, or in any department or officer thereof.

Doesn't take a Constitutional scholar (which is lucky, since they're obviously a scarce commodity in this administration) to realize that CONGRESS *DOES* HAVE ALL THE POWER AND RIGHT TO END THE WAR IN IRAQ THAT IT NEEDS.
End of story.

THANK YOU for pointing out Robin Roberts' performance
[Read the article: Romney feels the love]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I happened to see this "interview" that Robin Roberts conducted with Mitt Romney, and felt like throwing up as she kissed up to the former governor. She deserves a Nobel Prize for having discovered a way to be in two places at the same time -- on camera in the GMA studio, talking to a national audience, and simultaneously wherever Romney was, with her head buried deep up his ass.
Her viewers deserve an abject apology for her completely unprofessional performance this morning.

Sometimes Dubya's vacations are "flexible"...
[Read the article: Gone fishin']
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Congress merely has to do EXACTLY what the President wants, EXACTLY when he wants it -- and he'll then be absolutely ecstatic to fly back to Washington to sign the Iraq funding bill.
I mean, we all remember the last time such an important bill was passed while Dubya was on vacation, don't we? Does Terri Schiavo ring a bell? It was just over two years ago, after Congress passed what then-Rep. Tom DeLay called the "Palm Sunday Compromise" that granted federal jurisdiction if her family filed an appeal. Bush dramatically flew in to D.C. and signed the bill at 1:11 AM -- how amazing was that?
Oh, is THAT case a happy memory! I just know that Dubya would jet back the MINUTE Congress caves in to his demands for a deadline-free Iraq funding bill.

Two points
[Read the article: The McCain plan: Be like Bush]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]First, this War Room is item is quite disrespectful -- one should ALWAYS capitalize the formal title "Current Occupant" when referring to Dubya.
Second, former California State Senator Jim Brulte has uttered perhaps the best analysis of McCain yet -- there are probably millions of people whose expectations of John McCain are, shall we say, DIFFERENT from those we had 8 years ago. You would almost think that McCain 2008 is a doppelganger -- the evil twin of McCain 2000.
May he rest in peace as his campaign sinks slowly, slowly into well deserved oblivion.
