Okay, so what does Obama represent.

A few things that have impressed me over the course of this election.

One of his major core constitutiencies is the black vote - which will not vote Democratic if the superdelegates take the whole thing because it will be percieved as a racist choice - yet he is opposed to slave reparations.

He has policies which are almost exactly the same as Hillary on illegal immigration - the major difference being that he supports illegal immigrants being able to get drivers licenses, yet at the same time when asked about inner city unemployment he stated that the problems involved were deeper than "Them Mexicans is stealing our jobs." Hillary (Purely to show how easy it would be to do) emphasised "Mexicans are stealing our jobs."

On international trade he acknowledged that protectionism would be very difficult to implement - even though he was speaking in front of a union gathering.

On international politics he has emphasised talking to America's enemies even when this has been unpopular. His focus on military matters is Pakistan, which has nuclear weapons, and a history which indicates it is less than trustworthy with them, rather than Iran, which does not, and can make life quite uncomfortable for America besides. Iran is the world's second biggest oil producer and is developing stronger ties with a lot of the smaller producers.

What has struck me about his campaign, and the change he is promoting, is that apart from religion, he seems to have avoided hitting any of the easy buttons.

    What's that Hillary campaign motto?

When the facts go against you, make up some new ones!

Florida's Democratic establishment rejected plans to stage a re-vote back in March.

  • I am just going to point something out here

Obama needs to come down from his front-runner's pedestal and fight for working-class voters. Plus: Did Keith Olbermann really say that?

If anyone ever said that Hillary needed to come down off of her pedestal, that person would be accused of being a sexist pig.

    By Joan.

So I'd take Joan's interpretation of what Olberman said as being sexist with more than a truckload of salt - particularly given that the whole election narrative has been phrased as bitterly entrenched opposing sides attacking each other in a battle to the metaphoric death.

  • Why Hillary can't win in November.

[Read the article: How Hillary Clinton botched the black vote]

Even should she get the nomination, the sad truth is that she treat the primary as though it was the election itself.

This means that she has lost support in two major constituencies that the Democrats need in order to win in the general.

The first and most obvious is the black vote. Though she will probably have them as a core of support in November if she wins the nomination, it will not be so fervent as it could have been because ultimately, she ran a racist campaign.

It was not racist in that Bill said something unfortunate, that sort of thing happens, but rather in that little to nothing was done to try and salvage it. Then, when Ferraro decided to pretend that blacks have it easy in America and in American politics, well, it didn't exactly sit well with black people - who just happen to know better.

Then you have the other, less obvious problem. Young people.

Hillary's campaign and a lot of her campaign following has been distinctly anti youth, and anti-educated youth at that. You see this in charges around fratboys acting like fratboys and suddenly going from being simply irresponsible kids, to being representative of every young college goer.

You see this in charges of elitism, where an education and not being ashamed of it suddenly qualifies you as the enemy.

Without these two core groups the Democratic party cannot win - just like the Democratic party cannot win without the union and older female votes.

McCain is not an inevitable loser - defeat can be snatched from the jaws of victory if the candidates treat the general as being automatically won if they win the primary. Obama, to be honest, seems to understand this. Hillary, not so much - otherwise she wouldn't have gone through a spate of endorsing McCain over Obama.

Your argument would sound a whole lot more convincing if Obama hadn't spoken out against slave reparations.

Maybe you should look at the candidates rather than your perception of them based on race and gender.

Rupert Murdoch is one of the people who have raised funds for Hillary's campaign.

Any claims that the media is biased against Hillary need to be philtered through this central fact.

Not only that, the same MSM you claim is biased against Hillary, came out in force via quoting Obama's pastor out of context - in order to weaken Obama's candidacy.

The "Bittergate" saga was also a nice little example of how deep the US press has really been over the course of this election.

And let us not forget, right at the start of the campaign season, a certain media figure singing "Barrack the magic negro."

Any claims of media bias in this race need to be seen for what they are - particularly when those claiming bias seem to think that any criticism from anyone with the right genitalia counts as sexism, no matter how valid it might be.

Pretty much like Hillary's healthcare mandate - which also lacks any plan for enforcement.
