You know
[Read the article: Clinton, Obama, and the forum on faith]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]one of these days I would like to see an atheist actually run for office.
Okay, that atheist stands less of a chance than a pedophile with a prediliction for canabalism (Who would have the backing of the religious right) but it would be quite amusing watching someone actually take on the whole "We must have faith" thing on that level.
Up until that day comes though, this sort of event is going to give me pause about whichever candidate I support.

Articles like this hurt Hillary.
[Read the article: Hey, Obama boys: Back off already!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Hillary is trying to sell the idea that she is tough. Not that that is what anybody even wants anymore, but it is one of the few constants her campaign has sold from the start.
So what have we got here? People complaining that everyone is being too harsh on her because she is a girl.
Yeah. Nothing says tough quite like not being able to take harsh words spewed by kindergarten-level pundits.

[Read the article: Clinton, Obama, and the forum on faith]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Yeah, nevermind that he was actually right and described the premise of the rightwing's "Moral majority" down to a tee.
No, he is a horrible person for pointing out that certain wedge issues (Like say, religion and guns) are being used against the American people, by cynical politicians.
After all, what America needs is more noise on religion and guns. Forget those policies which actually mean anything.

Sexism?
[Read the article: Hey, Obama boys: Back off already!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]He’s (McCain) never been the president, but he will put forth his lifetime of experience. I will put forth my lifetime of experience. Senator Obama will put forth a speech he made in 2002.
But of course, Democratic men dislike her because she is female.
Seriously.

[Read the article: Hey, Obama boys: Back off already!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]To claim that Obama has not put forward clear policies at this point is frankly dumb-ass ignorant.
The candidates have websites. Obama's is actually better than Hillary's and it has various clear policy statements on it on a lot of subjects.
In fact one Hillary supporter at least has already pointed out that of the two, Obama is the more "Moderate" candidate.
Where they differ normally (In my opinion) is that Obama's policies tend towards being the more nuanced and better expressed. He doesn't just put forward a blanket rule and then say "But we will deal with enforcing it once I am president." IE: Hillary on her healthcare plan.

Hang on one minute
[Read the article: The rubes and the elites]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Yesterday, we had the latest in a series of articles peddling pretty much peddling the same shit that this article claims is coming from Obama's campaign - and the editor expects us to think that she isn't biased.
Yeah, and pigs fly.
Okay, so what is wrong with this article?
It forgets one major problem with the Midwest: It is an embarrassment.
It loudly proclaims that it is the hard working heart of America, the real American patriots who stand for everything that is America, that the Northern "Lieberals" are simply not Americans the way the Southerners are Americans.
It puts across the idea that it is more moral, more "Down to earth" and generally in every way something special.
And this pisses the North and the coasts off.
First off, the Southern states are not the hard working heart of America. If the South suddenly succeeded tomorrow there would be major debates as to where to hold the party in the North.
The Southern "Red states" are the states most notable on a Federal basis, for being drains on the union - which you can verify by checking out the tax data for yourself.
Their main claim to being "Patriots" is through the civil war, in which they rebelled against the rest of the union because they wanted to keep slaves. Yeah, real moral too.
Every few years you can expect the "Bible Belt" to belt out another law suit to try and bring creationism back onto America's curriculum, despite them not only having failed repeatedly to do this, but also having been mocked for trying.
Culturally, their chief contributions have been musical - with an emphasis on how shit life is. Not something to be proud of.
And lets not forget to thank the South for their resistance to the civil rights movement.

Oh, and before people get all pissy
[Read the article: The rubes and the elites]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The crux of my last post is that the bloody North is getting fairly bitter too - with its own reasons for it.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Yeah, you Clinton Cultists, who believe Hillary can do no wrong because she was "Vetted" all of seven years ago, sure do make a strong case for yourselves.

[Read the article: The rubes and the elites]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Maybe it is because that "latte guzzling crowd" is deeply pissed at the South.
People write off what the North thinks at their peril. Voting power may be concentrated in the South, but the day will come when the North stops being so willing to foot the tab for a bunch that doesn't even like them.
