All theology is, is the long, ancient art of making excuses for what doesn't exist.

It has provided us with no cures, no technologies, no new knowledge even within its own field.

Whenever the Bible has gone up against scientific thought (Whether it be through the shape of the Earth or the origins of species) it has taken a pummelling. It hasn't even proved that accurate a telling of history, as the blood libel against the Jews shows.

At its height, at around 1000AD a great plague swept the Western World and is estimated to have halved the human population.

In the 200 years in which atheism has been legal and science has reigned supreme in human thought, human life expectancy has gone from 20 to 30 to 67. Indeed much of that gain has been in the 20th century.

To call science, which has definite, measurable results a theology, a form of religion, is to ignore the vast differences in results between the two.

Actually, I would argue that you lack joy.

To look up at the universe, to see a billion billion points of light more beautiful then the last, to look at the delicate intricacy of a leaf, to look at all of this wonder around us, and to not have it be enough that the universe is glorious?

We will all die one day, and no longer live to see this heaven around us, we will no longer speak and learn from friends and foes, our stories will fall silent and we will pass.

But before that day comes there is wonder here, there is freedom and love and all of the things bad poets sing about. Is is not enough that the garden be beautiful, without fairies dwelling in the bottom of it?

I used the name "Bible" because it includes the new testament.

If I was talking about the old testament I would have called it the Torah.

The New Testament is supposed to be a telling of history too, it is supposed to describe the life of Christ, who is in Christian belief, a historic figure.

The blood libel against the Jews is basically that Jesus' Crucifixion was due to the Jewish people of the time asking for Barrabas instead of Jesus when asked by Pontius Pilot who should get pardoned - as was his custom.

It is a downright lie. The custom never existed, and besides, as people who got crucified were rebels (As per Roman history on the subject) it basically tells us that the Romans were idiots. I mean, you have a rebellious province and you release the most popular rebel to celibrate a festival?

Science doesn't ask you to believe anything.

A car will run whether you believe it runs on internal combustion or magical petrol-eating-CO2-farting fairies.

This is one of the primary differences between the product of science and the product of religion - in order for religion to "work" you need to believe in it and if it doesn't, the problem is you aren't believing hard enough.

As it turns out nobody really ever believes hard enough.

Science, provided you follow the basic instructions needed to make it work, works whether you believe it or not.

I may have made an error as to blood libel, I didn't make an error as to that lie being contain in the Bible though.

A lot of Christians don't read the book. Not a lot of atheists are the same.

Only an idiot would argue that a concept is the same as a entity.

    God is an entity.

Can you prove the existance of debit and credit? How about the concept of plus?

Besides, love actually is one of those concepts which is scientifically proveable: http://www.cnn.com/2006/HEALTH/conditions/02/14/science.of.love/

Just like happy, sad, amused, irritated and baffled by someone making a really, really, stupid statement.

Once had a Born Again Christian worker who had a sick child.

The child needed medical attention, the company's Medical Aide wouldn't pay for all of it, and the Born Again Christian was frantic.

After all, wouldn't any parent be?

The atheist business owner, being a nice person, decided to pay for that portion of the bill the insurance was fighting on.

The Born Again Christian fell on his knees and thanked God.

The atheist business owner commented to me on this later "You know, I really don't think that much of myself."

Other races were indeed treat worse and are doing better.

What has a lot to do with it is cultural poison. That poison is racism in Hollywood and the music industry.

Think about it: Go watch any movie aimed at any other population group and then go watch anything aimed at black guys. The stuff aimed at black guys is half-assed.

That is not to say that everything aimed at whites is exactly high brow, but there are alternatives if you don't feel like mindless violence and slapstick stupidity.

Asians watch less TV, and read more real books.

Books are generally a cut above TV when it comes to being good entertainment - as they have the time to establish a decent plot and you can just skim through the boring bits.

This isn't saying that violent TV rots your mind, but rather that poor quality acting, poor plotting, and general sacharine pap rots your mind.

1 episode of a bad soap opera takes away two weeks at a top university. Watch too much anime and wach yor speling detiarite.
