It Doesn't Matter

Anyone influenced enough by Glenn Beck's lies to travel to Washington to protest Obama's attempt to improve American healthcare is to be pitied.

These people are wasting their time.

On second thought, I'd rather have them all in Washington instead of frothing at the mouth and regurgitating Republican propaganda at town hall meetings.

@JackSparx

I dunno. If you add up the good versus the bad from the Clintons you'd get a higher score in the "good" column. A comparison with any serving Republican would be interesting ...

As A Foreigner

observing the American political culture I would be confused and frightened to know that a nuclear superpower is in the control of a broken political system and a population divided between people trying to use common-sense and intelligence and people driven by hate, ignorance, and fear.

I would put America on a "watch list" fearing that such hatred towards a new president trying to meet the needs of his majority constituency and to honor the reasons he was elected to office is endemic of wholesale mental illness.

As a foreigner, I might be watching an historic event featuring the political destruction of a once-great nation.

The Land Of Broken Systems

Healthcare, public transportation, finance, manufacturing, and our two-party system - all broken thanks to extremism and ignorance and greed.

The world is watching, waiting for the collapse of our country, and the right wing spin and lie industry keeps on cranking away.

I'm looking, and what I am seeing is the biggest, most profitable industry in the world - organized religion.

Thank you Jesus.

@nora gleason

Buckle up and enjoy the ride. Things could be much, much worse.

We should not forget the vast destruction left by the Bush Administration and the fact that it'll take more than a few months to fix it.

Like it or not, Obama is the ONLY person in America with his feet on the ground right now.

If you doubt this, watch Fox News and you'll see the truly ugly side of our political discourse,

Congress Is Corrupt, Useless

unless you are the insurance industry or the financial industry.

Your payoffs to our representatives have effectively silenced public access to Congress.

Well done!

You lie !

Haters Arise !

Take up your cudgels and pitchforks and march to the drumbeat of Fox News with Rush Limbaugh carrying the flag.

We are the new, the reborn, the chosen, Republican Party.

@JoeMommaSan

Obamas' ratings today are nothing to be concerned about, in my opinion. He has to step on a lot of toes to get things moving in the right direction.

The amount of destruction left by Bush and the GOP requires that Obama take steps that are bound to bother some folks. That is a good thing. The actions of the haters and GOP liars we are seeing is the true face of Obamas' opposition and it is an ugly face indeed. This will play well to Obama in 2012.

The main source of lies about Obama seems to be the Republican lunatic fringe and most Americans will eventually figure that out.

Assuming a financial recovery is beginning and some form of health care legislation passes, and Rush keeps the hate flowing, Obama's ratings can only go up.

@onemilarepa

Each president has to endure payback for the treatment of the previous president. This is at the expense of meaningful legislation in Congress and the cause of increasing anger in the electorate toward the incumbent.

Fox News and hate radio make an effective propaganda platform for the haters and the dividers.

This is a cancer for which there is no cure. Once the gloves come off, they stay off.

GOP Hiding Behind ACORN

The right wing's absense of ideas and their bankrupt policies are hiding behind ACORN, a smokescreen created and fed by Fox News and its propagandists.

It is pathetic when a Party has to resort to dredging up such inconsequential crap to distract the public while really important issues are ignored.

@Glock45

You conveniently fail to mention that all of the misdeeds you list apply to the Bush Administration and you can add their illegal wiretapping, lies to attack Iraq, the financial meltdown, Katrina, and more.

The Repukes lost the last two elections because American are done with the Republican hypocrisy, "do what we say, not what we do".

@astroturf jungle

Then, no doubt, you'd gladly refuse to accept Social Security, refuse to drive on public roads, use public bridges.

You get the picture.

Obama Failed

to keep his healthcare proposals simple, stupid.

This played into the Republican propaganda machine and, boy have they done a job convincing the non-thinkers in this country.

There Is A Price For Stupidity

If you are going to operate outside the law, don't get caught. That is Rule Number One.

The CIA failed to heed that, big time, and now it must pay the price.

Don't hide stupidity behind national security.

@JaaZee

Your comment on tort reform is not factual. The thing is, we don't know how much tort reform will save. Nobody has any idea, and that is why Obama has called for comprehensive investigations to determine the savings effect if tort reform is passed.

Sunday, September 20, 2009 03:23 PM

@JaaZee

For an excellent clinic on the art and science of political polarization in America, watch Fox News.

The Fox blowhards have done an excellent job of degenerating the entire healthcare discussion into sound-bites, lies, name-calling, and worse.

Its Called Bribery

Giving money to people in order to influence their opinions or decisions is bribery.

"Bribery, a form of pecuniary corruption, is an act implying money or gift given that alters the behaviour of the recipient. Bribery constitutes a crime and is defined by Black's Law Dictionary as the offering, giving, receiving, or soliciting of any item of value to influence the actions of an official or other person in discharge of a public or legal duty.
