We Worship Violence

The symbolic American Eagle is a bird of prey, not of peace. Our movies and culture feed upon fear by providing quick and violent solutions to social problems. Deadly weapons are available to anyone, anywhere. The NRA promotes unfettered gun ownership as a necessity to maintain our freedom while cities become battlefields where gunfire and killing is not uncommon.

Our foreign policy has been dominated by shallow thinkers too quick to turn to military solutions.

We like to think that America stands as the only superpower capable of being the world's police force, but our moral authority has been destroyed by too many years of GOP dominance in foreign policy. This has, at last, ended and the first few months of Obama's presidency has already opened a new and positive world view of America.

But in the end we are, like the Roman Empire, a nation largely built upon the industry and culture of warfare.

The Numbing Of The American Mind

The illegal acts committed by the Bush Administration were akin to a flu epidemic but they were accepted because Americans were fearful that another attack on US soil was emminent.

Looking back, we are seeing that the harm caused by our reaction to the attacks on 9/11 caused damage to ourselves far exceeding the attacks themselves.

The leaders and their enablers responsible for this must be held to account for their misdeeds. Otherwise, justice becomes the paper tiger no longer respected by leaders in the future.

Are We Alone In This?

Do other countries have idiots broadcasting lies and opinion thinly disguised as fact like the talking heads at Fox?

On The Other Hand

perhaps we should be thankful that the Foxsnooze team will further marginalize the conservative propaganda supported by Republicans.

@ thestar

And while we're at it, let's see the original Obama birth certificate. I'm sure that the kids are curious about it.

This Is Payback For Bush

All of the far right propaganda campaigns against Obama are payback for the beating that Bush received during his disastrous terms.

FoxSnooze and its cadre of right wing propagandists are the reemergence of the old Republican fear-mongering campaigns highlighted by the McCarthy/Nixon/Reagan eras.

The followers and enablers of this lunacy consist of folks without ideas or creativity for solving problems. Instead they take their clues and talking points from the likes of Limbaugh, Hannity, Coulture and Fox News.

They hope to paper over Bush's failed legacy with unfounded attacks on anything that Obama does.

Yanking your kid out of school because the president wants to communicate with students is typical of people at the bottom of the common-sense ladder.

Obama Should Preview The GOP Speech

Obasma could present all of the GOP arguments as a part of his presentation thereby deflating the effect of the Republican response.

Allowing 5 minutes for this ought to do the trick.

Correction: Obama, not Obasma

EOM.

This Is A Phoney Issue

created by right-wing propagandists happy to use children to promote thair lies.

What a bunch of assholes.

Has Anyone Here Read Obama's Speech?

No? And it's obvious judging from many of the posts here.

Religion Is A Mental Illness

I find it easier to deal with religious lunacy by starting with the belief that the need for religious belief is rooted in peoples' need for simple answers to complex questions.

Additionally, as history has proven over and over again, religion was, and is, used to subjugate people who do not think the same way you do.

Van Jones Apologized For Previous Ssatements

NPR reported that Van Jones had apologized for anti-war statements made after 9/11. He aplogized for his belief that Bush had prior knowledge about the attacks.

When has a Republican apologized for anything? Have we heard apologies from Cheney, Bush, or Rumsfeld about the mistaken sacrifice of thousands of people caused by an unecessary attack on Iraq? Has the GOP apologized for the lies about Obama's birth certificate? Has Rumsfeld apologized for the thousands of soldiers killed and wounded due to his failed war strategy?

Has Bush apologized for failing his promise "to be a uniter, not a divider?

Does Fox News ever report on this hypocrisy?

Democrats need to get a backbone. Van Jones made statements in the past for what he believed to be good reasons. Fine. He should stand by those statements and his beliefs and tell the GOP to go to hell.

The Excesses Of Capitalism

do not create wealth. They create more government.

Therefore capitalism must be limited, otherwise it will self-destruct (see Enron, Madoff, etc.).

So pure capitalism is bullshit. It can never exist.

Live with it.

It's Bigger Than Obama

The Democratic majority is threatened by their lack of cohesiveness on too many issues. More than anything else, this will doom the Democratic Party to huge losses in the next election.

And Obama can forget about a Next Term.

Roy Died At Age 15

My next door neighbor and childhood friend lived in a household where guns were kept. Although the guns were locked in a cabinet it was too easy to learn where the keys were kept hidden.

Roy seemed normal but he was a troubled kid and a showoff exhibiting the behavior of one feeling left out of his parents love.

One afternoon the street was filled with police cars and a coroners ambulance. Roy had killed himself with his fathers shotgun.

Roy's family was destroyed in an instant. Lives were torn apart, never to heal.

It Could Be Inbreeding

Six degrees of separation may be too generous for these folks.

Someone should check the genetic map to see where they are all related.

That would explain the mental illness quite well, no?

Did Anyone Believe That The GOP's

preemptive criticism of Obama's speech was anything other than pure, unadulterated Republican BS?

Apparently the mainstream media was fooled.
