If We Can't Fix The Healthcare Problem

We've failed as a nation. We'll be owned by corporations and a government that is corrupt beyond repair.

We have the best doctors, hospitals, medical knowhow, the best medical technology, research second to none, and we cannot manage to build an effective system to deliver all of this to every citizen of this country.

But we can bomb the shit out of Afghanistan and Iraq, and spend more than a TRILLION dollars fighting ghosts in other countries.

This is madness beyond belief. A president is elected whose platform is built on a promise to fix health care but that does not matter. Why is that?

Because we have ceased to be a democracy. We are now a corporation that is governed not by what is best for the citizens but by what is best for the Bottom Line.

This Is The GOP's Stategy

Never mind the issues, but keep the rumors coming. Any meaningful discussion will be derailed by wingnuts trotting out the latest LieAboutObama, thereby avoiding the egg on their faces from eight years of BushCheney failures and criminal activity.

Natty-J

Now that you have exposed your allegiance to Rush Limbaugh, what do you suggest to fix the problem, other than a redneck militia.

Good question. I'm wondering where the doctors are in all of this. What healthcare delivery ideas do they favor and why.

It would be good to know.

The Next Election Cycles

will purge even more Republicans from Congress, mainly the ones voting against healthcare reform.

It is just a matter of time.

Palin Is A Joke

The GOP selected an uninformed moose-hunting mother with an unmarried, pregnant daughter, and married to a right wing separatist for its "family values" platform?

Never mind the terrorists in Iraq. We've got bigger problems right here at home.

Original article: A warning for Democrats?

American Conservatives' Roster

includes Palin, Limpaugh, Hannity, Gingrich, et al.

Relax. They'll shoot themselves in their own feet, as always.

Beck, Limbaugh, Hannity, O'Reilly

These guys make a good living revving up the lunatic fringe.

Their stirring up hatred and prejudice is no different than falsely yelling "fire" in a movie theater.

Yes, but ...

"these events were pretty recent, but hate radio has been around for years...so if it was the cause, something should have happened sooner.

-- John Anderson"

Maybe the election of a mixed-race president is a catalyst for the haters.

Obama seems to have brought out the best and the worst in us. The hopeful are encouraged and the fearful and ignorant are whipped up by the Fox lunatic fringe.

Not To Worry

The Italians have built some of the the sexiest and fastest cars in the world. Italian carbody designs are the world standard for their timeless beauty.

I see a marriage between Fiat, a car company that is well-equipped to engineer and build small, fast, and economical cars and Chrysler, a car company that has produced some real American winners (like the minivan and the new Dodge Charger).

It Depends Upon Obama

If the economy improves steadily, the GOP will lose even more seats (as the Party of No).

People will remember the lack of goodwill shown by the Republicans and their blowhards wishing for "Obama to fail".

Also, voters are very concerned about the lack of affordable health care. If the Republicans block progress on fixing this they are cooked.

Great reply. Thanks.

Considering the cost of gas over there, you must be referring to .002% of the population.

larryjack

Every soccer mom needs a 7,000 lb truck-based, 12 passenger, four wheel drive, 570 hp, 10 mpg, 12,000 lb towing capacity beast to carry little Jimmy (75lb) and little Sally (68lb) to the shopping mall where 1.5 parking spaces are needed.

Yes, and some of their "tractors" can go over 200 mph.

Imagine what that will do for farming.

The Vega

The Chevrolet Vega was the icon of the American attempt to compete with the Japanese. It had great looks, great handling (with the optional tires and suspension upgrades) and a horrible engine with a "disposable" cylinder block that often needed replacement at around 60,000 miles. Its build quality was so poor that new cars were rusting in dealer showrooms and the paint was so thin in places that you could see the underlying primer (when their was any primer at all).

This was the car that was supposed to lure American back from buying far superior Japanese cars.

GM failed to make the necessary steps to make the Vega a successful car. The engine compartment was designed to accomodate a small V8 engine, but GM had sold its small and economical 215 cu. in. aluminum V8 to the British Roots car company.

This engine, combined with improved quality control would have been a hot item, but GM kept its focus on the big gas guzzlers while the Japanese slowly stole the market.

The Lunatic Fringe

I love that description and I use it often in my posts. It really describes the folks that are still concerned about Obama's citizenship and his religion.

The irony of all of this is that it does not matter what Obama's religion is, nor does it matter if he has no religious affiliations at all.

But conservatives froth at the mouth (thus becoming a part of the Lunatic Fringe) when it is suggested that Obama is a Muslim.

The Constitution does not apply except for the Second Amendment, apparently.

The Emergency Rooms Are Full

And ER care of the uninsured is expensive and inefficient.

Medicare Part B uses private insurers to supplement its benefits. Part D benefits include private supplier drugs. A Medicare-like program should be offered to all ages, not just seniors.

Medicare can be improved, and the government ought to be allowed to negotiate directly with the drug companies (just like the bidding process that awards contracts to all government suppliers).

Why Bother With Movie Remakes?

Most are failures. I'd make an exception for "War of the Worlds", however. The newer version is substantially different from the original, plot-wise, and the special effects are excellent. The movie follows the classic story pretty closely, so H.G. Wells will be happy.

I'd add "Capricorn One" to the List.

Letterman Apologize?

Palin will not apologize for revving up the haters at her rallies.

And, since when is this "Obama's America"?

He's been president, what, five months?
