No doubt O'reilly knows his audience pretty well. He knows that his rhetoric is fodder to many lunatics looking for reasons to take the law into their own hands. He knows that the right-wing fringe is capable of violence.
So, he should accept the fact that his opinions influence people and some of those people are not sane. And O'Reilly knows that guns are available on any American street corner (because he's in bed with the NRA) and that ANYONE can obtain a gun.
Therefore, it is not a stretch to see a connection between O'Reilly's hate-filled comments and the soft-in-the-head folks that make up most of his audience.
This should impart a sense of responsibility on his part, but it does not. Instead he twists, or omits, the facts in order to build an emotional story.
Just wondering why the big reaction every time he opens his mouth.
If so, great. The Republicans refusal to speak against him up says volumes about their morally bankrupt Party. The voters will find it easy to finish the job of reducing the GOP to permanent minority status.
Rush, Hannity, and others are the ugly face of the new GOP and Americans should be ashamed that these blowhards are making good livings by fooling their followers.
During the 2000 National GOP Convention Rush Limbaugh received a standing ovation from the attendees. This was his reward for helping further the GOP effort towards their ultimate "victory" in that Election.
Although mainstream Republicans will probably deny this, they are very much in alignment with their media blowhards. Rush, Hannity, and others feed a message of fear and foment divisiveness, thereby insulating the Party from projecting an extremist image.
This is going to backfire on the Republicans. Americans voted for intelligent change in our government. We voted for a president with the courage to do what is necessary in today's world. The GOP is still living in the stone age of world politics.
She has no "issues with race" other than what you have been told by her obviously biased detractors.
Except that George Bush marched into Iraq under the false pretense that Saddam had nuclear and chemical offensive weapons capabilities and was ready to use them against the USA.
Except that Bush's unecessary Iraq war has caused harm to the populations in the Middle East, strengthened Iran, and has fed the terrorism that has caused the loss of thousands of Muslim lives.
I'd say that is quite a difference.
Kansas law prohibits late-term abortions unless the mother is in danger.
Dr. Tiller has not been convicted of violating that State Law. Antone suggesting otherwise is smoking bad dope.
Get it?
Nice thing about Fox, you know it is always gonna be pro-American no matter what the facts of the story.
This appeals to a lot of Americans who are used to watching TV shows aimed at 12 year olds.
Simple answers for simple minds. Can't fail.
And Fox really knows its audience. Rush/Hannity/O'Reilly personify everything that is wrong with mass TV news shows. Opinionated, fact-ignoring perveyors of Republican fiction and wishful thinking. And the dittoheads just gobble it up, along with their Cheese Whiz dips and cheap beer.
This is the audience that Fox advertisers salivate for and while it may be true that the Fox audience is the largest, it is also true that a majority of Americans voted for George W. Bush twice.
You be the judge.
An Obama has not fixed everything yet. What an abject failure of a president we have elected.
Where is my high-speed rail? Where are the new jobs? Why is the air still dirty? Why are we still in the Middle East? Why hasn't Israel embraced the formation of a Palestinian state?
Why isn't everything FIXED like Obama promised?
Oh, wait. He didn't say that things would be done by June 1?
I guess I can wait until July.
You must be employed by the Taliban because they benefit more from our torturing prisoners than we do.
The entire torture issue is fodder for the Taliban propaganda machine. I'd wager that our treatment of prisoners has resulted in the creation of more terrorists, not fewer.
Preaching democracy and practicing 18th century interrogation techniques doesn't make sense, to rational people at least.
That's my goal, and I'm succeeding very happily, thank you.
What the folks at Fox Propaganda is feeding you is rather pathetic considering Obama has been in office, what, FOUR MONTHS.
Considering the mess that Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld/ left, Obama is doing great just keeping his sanity, let alone worrying about the lunatics demanding that all promises be kept immediately upon Obama unpacking his boxes.
Sheeesh!
Americans are so brainwashed by the politics of fear and resentment that it is hard to imagine the level of stupidity that one has to stoop to in order to accept any of the criticism coming from the right wingers.
Losses from the past two Elections have caused conservatives to suffer from near-terminal constipation, and this is affecting their thinking.
The GOP has become the lapdog of the likes of Limbaugh, Hannity, and others making a living by playing to their ignorant audiences.
Republicans are so beaten down that they can only criticize, never offering constructive alternatives. They have ceased to fulfill their proper role as the loyal opposition. Rather, they have descended to the level of rumor mongering, fact distorting, and lying.
