Bush Will Declare

under the War Powers Act, the Preemptive Perogatives Act, the Permanent Republican Majority Act, the Cheney Manifesto, and the Karl Rove Talking Points Directive that the Obama inauguration will be delayed or suspended indefinitely owing to excessive celebration throughout America and the Free World contributing to an "unfounded optimism leading to a weakening of our defense against terrorism".

@Readerreader

Give me a break. Since when do people pay attention to sermons in church? If that were the case, the same sermons would not have to be repeated week after week, there would be no crime and everybody would love everybody.

The church I attended (actually, forced to attend) was an all white church, did not preach racial equality and here I am, voting for Obama.

If Reverend Wright had an influence on Obama it certainly doesn't manifest itself in Obama's family, personal, or professional, or political life.

If The Final Result Is A Close Election

it will be a black eye for America.

We will have shown that, once again, we are so divided as to be blind to the difference between hope and hate.

Let's Improve Fuel Mileage Regulations

Has anybody calculated the fuel-savings that would result if automakers were held to an absolute 22 mpg minimum for all non-commercial vehicles?

Mid-size family sedans (the most popular) are sporting 300+ HP engines and 0 to 60 times under 6 seconds. This results in average city mileage ratings of far less than 20 mpg.

Pickup trucks are, for the most part, driven as personal transportation and not used to haul the loads they are designed for. The Ford F150 is (or was) the best-selling vehicle of all and it averages around 12 - 15 mpg in normal use.

Dodge sells a Ram pickup sporting a huge hemi V8 getting 10 mpg and it is marketed as a hotrod.

A well-designed pickup truck can obtain 22 mpg in normal driving while being of sufficient size and power to satisfy 90% of truck buyers. The Toyota Tacoma pickup comes to mind.

The Europeans counter high gas cost with fuel-efficient cars that perform well and provide safety and comfort. When we can divorce ourselves from our Road Warrior mentality perhaps we can tell OPEC to go to hell.

@aelemay

I know some folks that have Fox News on the tube all day. It is in the background, constantly yelling the same talking points that uou have included in your post.

If you have arrived at your opinions through the thoughtful, intelligent analysis of the facts I apologize for this, but I fear that you have been successfully brainwashed by the Faux news frenzy of the right.

Clearly, Obama is connecting to a majority of Americans and that is the beauty of living in a democracy. True leadership carries its own strength.

Leadership Proof Is In The Campaign

Obama's first test of leadership is apparently successful. His campaign is proof of that.

Where Obama has succeeded, McCain has failed.

I am more confident in a president that, against all odds, sticks to his promise to keep the focus on the issues, and to run a very, very smart campaign in spite of the dirtball tactics used by Palin and the GOP.

This is gonna be a landslide !

I'm Against Hangnails

People with a hangnail on a toe walk slower and they are a hazard (to me) on crowded stairways.

Hangnails on fingers can distract someone while driving a car, with disastrous results.

I realize that a very small percentage of us have severe hangnail problems but isn't it worthwhile to amend our constitution to keep hangnail infested people off of the streets?

I'll gladly accept gay marriage so long as the hangnail problem is dealt with.

What Has Been Working In America?

Our "socialist" programs like Social Security, bracketed taxation, Medicare, unemployment insurance, the FDIC, public transportation, and countless state and local programs benefitting the aged, the poor, and disadvantaged children.

When Republicans decry "socialism" they ignore the financial wreckage wrought by years of capitalist greed. They insist that profits be made by medical insurers (riding on the coattails of Medicare) that add nothing but cost and complexity to American healthcare.

McCain Needs The Republican Party

As the lifeboats were to the Titanic's survivors, McCain needs the Republican Party and he will succumb to the same GOP mismanagement that we've seen under (or over) Bush.

Palin is window-dressing, nothing more, but McCain's age makes a Palin presidency possible.

Imagine a stupid Dick Cheney. That's Palin.

If McCain Knows

what he claims to know about military and foreign policy issues why did he vote to invade Iraq?

Why would you vote for an invasion run by the incompetent Rumsfeld? Why would you vote based upon questionable intelligence from a suspicious source? Why would you assume tthat we would be welcomed as liberators and not as invaders? Why would you trust a rabid right wing liar like Cheney?

Seems like McCain lacks the ability to think beyond what he is told to think. Or, he takes his advice from Fox News.

A Felon In The Senate?

How does that work?

Monday, October 27, 2008 08:24 AM

@Hank007

If Palin had Anna's assets (we know what I mean) John McCain could take a vacation for the entire campaign and he would still win.

And that can be taken to the bank (whoops, sorry. Put it in a coffee can instead).
