The "election" of Bush/Cheney and other misfits is ample evidence that too many of us are simply not capable of rational thinking.
We are a dumbed-down society persuing material gain at the expense of gaining knowledge.
The antics of both Parties in Congress is another example of stupidity at work. How many politicians have issued apologies for statements made? How many have questionable or no morals? How much legislation is bogged down due to petty politics and special interest influence?
How can the American public accept spending billions on an unecessary war and not adequately fund education and health care?
We are not being served very well by our institutions. The press, the media, and our political process is one giant whorehouse, with big money and big oil calling the shots.
I guess I'll keeping going to the voting booth, but more and more I feel that it will be wasted effort.
But I can remember my reaction to Bush during the campaign for the 2000 Election. I could not believe that Bush Jr. was qualified to be president.
His speeches, the Debates, his selection of a VP, all led me to believe that in no way would the American voters elect this bunch. And, as it turned out, Gore received a huge majority of the popular vote but lost due to a ruling by a Republican Supreme Court.
That was not democracy, and we have paid a terrible price.
The Bushes, for all of their incomptence and ignorance, are the poster boys for the neocons and the Christian Right loonies. Their competence in world and national matters is not as important as their adherence to conservative Christian dogma.
A "born again" Christian starts an unecessary war? Whew!
is all Rudy can hope for?
This should make it easier for the Dems, if they can build a unifying message that the average 12 year-old American mentality can understand.
Honestly, it seems that politics is a regressive institution any more.
The Republican Party reminds me of organized crime when good people like Colin Powell are forced to go against their own better judgement.
Cheney plays the role of the crime boss. Libby and Powell both are victims of the Cheney Method, whereby Cheney lets others do his dirty work and he lets them take the fall. Powell must have had an easy decision to leave this Administration.
The really sickening part is the prostitution of the Christian Right. These idiots are willing to subvert anything in their drive to force their values down every Americans' throat.
Republicans wrap themselves in the Flag while they work to increase corporate profits at the publics' expense, defeat environmental protection legislation, and pretend to be fiscal conservatives while engaging in record spending.
The Democrats should have no problem painting this picture in order to assist voters to make the right decisions next Election.
#1. We can't leave Iraq now. I know it's a popular thing to say and certainly OK to wish for, but the hard truth is that BushCo broke Iraq and we have to fix it. Leaving that mess behind is just not acceptable. Millions of Iraqis have been displaced and are under constant threat of retaliation and violence. We cannot leave them like that.
#2. Mukasey? So what. He doesn't matter. In one year he and the rest of the worthless Bush Administration will be gone.
#3. General Petraeous just might be doing a pretty good job. Let's give him credit and the Dems should take responsibility for forcing Bush to get rid of Rumsfeld. Remember, just before last election Bush said "Rumsfeld stays". After the huge Republican losses in Congress Bush said "Rumsfeld goes". The Dems should support Petraeous and take their deserved credit for forcing Dumbya to replace Rumsfeld.
#4. The Dems should circle the wagons and offer a unified message to the voters. The public is sick of Bush and his horrible Administration. The Dems have a lot to agree upon and the public is waiting for them to get it together. It may be too late but a lot can be accomplished before the 08 Election.
#5. Forget about gay marriage and all that stuff. People are concerned about health care and cost of living pressures. Above all, people want a strong, unified Democratic majority but they are not getting one so far.
#6. Democrats' support for the invasion of Iraq was, to a large degree, oulined in the War Powers Resolution. Any criticism of Democrats' support for the invasion has to be temprered with the fact that the War Powers Resolution was factually not true as far as Iraq's nuclear capability, its ties to Osama, its ties to the attack on 9/11, its WMD arsenal. All of these have since been proven to be false. This should be a major plank in the Democrats' platform concerning their vote to proceed with the invasion.
If the Democrats don't get a backbone soon, all is lost.
If he could see the damage men have done in his name.
A preemptive war is about the least Christlike thing anyone could do.
Funny how the frothing-at-the-mouth crowd is composed mostly of conservatives.
"Hate Radio" is an ugly term but it adequately describes the type of programming listened to.
