@Nathan Coker

You posted: "Build some more big bridges and dams and power plants and desalinization plants and refineries and WORTHWILE, JOB-CREATING PROJECTS!

And ones that create jobs NOW, not 4 years from now."

The problem is that none of the projects you propose will create jobs now. Perhaps in a few years but projects like these require immense planning, permitting, and engineering reviews before construction can start. We can't afford to wait years for job creation.

Sorry to interrupt but, you made money in your 401K, but the vast (and I mean VAST) majority have lost money.

Most folks do not have the inclination to involve themselves in investing. Rather they'll depend upon financial managers or mutual funds to oversee their portfolios. And, by the way, many Americans do not invest because they are trying to feed their families, avoid foreclosures, pay for health care, etc.

As a Social Security recipient, I do not pine at having paid into SS during my entire working career. Maybe I could have made more in securities but right now my stock/bond portfolio is down around 30%, while my SS income remains steady.

Social Security is not perfect but for many millions it is a lifeline.

However, we conunterattacked the wrong country with the result that thousands of Iraqis and 4200 more Americans have needlessly lost their lives.

Let's Let Obama Do What He Was Elected To Do

To hell with the Republicans. They are a dying Party and the next election should pretty well finish the GOP off.

The GOP blowhards are foaming at the mouth. They have no excuses for the failures of the Bush Administration so they resort to lies and fear-mongering (their stock-in-trade) to keep their sheeple in line.

Let's shove the GOP into cellar and get on with fixing problems.

Free markets don't work. We learned that in 1930, 1982, and now.

Compare the free market to a volcano, simmering then boiling then erupting and finally dying down. Or compare the free market to a roller coaster.

If you want to ride a roller coaster, go to Disneyland.

If you want a sustainable economy mix the free market and adequate oversight and enforce that oversight. The free market zombies in the Bush Administration effectively ignored the oversight and the enforcement of market regulations and we are having to deal with the results.

Bias

I am often puzzled by bias, whether it exists in law, in enforcement, in politics, or in education. Bias is definable and it exists in everyone because it is a part of us that is programmed from birth (or perhaps while we are still in the womb) and it is a part of what defines our personality. Bias must always be balanced and tempered with facts, otherwise we become disfunctional.

When people are designated as judges they render their decisions based upon their perception of the real world. As facts are being considered the judges' bias is always there, like a little voice speaking directly into the ear.

However, the ideal judge should be as free of bias as possible. When a Supreme Court justice votes on the same side of every issue he or she is considering, this is the worst kind of bias. This puts the Court in the position of a debating society, with each side pitting its bias against the other.

I pine for the day when justices are chosen that have a lack of bias and no political party affiliation, and no religious conviction.

Obama has more important things to do right now than worry about Israel.

The All Volunteer Army

Someone should report on the differences (if any)existing between today's all-volunteer army vs. an army consisting of a mix of enlistees and draftees.

In Order To Survive

The GOP must cater to its TV blowhards and Hate Radio. Otherwise it will lose its most consistent base, the knee-jerk dittohead crowd.

That is precisely why they are a dying Party.

It's time to flatten the GOP. It is why we elected Obama, isn't it?

Capitol One Doing Its Share

Just got a notice that Capitol One sent to its credit card holders. They are raising their interest rates on all new balances.

Now, we pay off our balance every month but most folks don't, so they'll be penalized for carrying a balance.

Meanwhile, Congress want the financial industry to get money moving again and Congress would love to see us go shopping.

But Capitol One seems to have other ideas.

Please remember that your team has been in charge for essentially the past eight years.

Given that school infastructure problems can be blamed on Both the Democrats and Republicans, that leaves the current overall financial mess the fault of the economic mismanagement by Dumbya and Crew.

What was needed was a balance of a free market and adequate government oversight. The GOP has consistently pushed for less oversight and more free market. Well, the results are in and guess what? The free market won. The rich got richer, the rest are left in a shipwreck, and now the taxpayers are gonna have to pay even more to bail these bastards out.

That was Republican Econ IA at work.

I posted those stats to try to illustrate that teacher's pay may not be the root cause of job dissatisfaction within that profession.

I confess to a confusing post.

Apparently you need a history lesson. Who has been running the country for the past eight (8) years?

Obama took office in January, 2009.
