You miss the point completely.
The successful politician wins arguments and Biden's ratings for the debate were better than Palin's.
So you will have to agree, that to the AVERAGE voter, Biden's performance was successful.
And that is the way the game is played, for better or for worse.
Biden stated that in the debate. Of course it is important when used, which is rarely.
Right on!
Unfortunately, too many voters want to believe that terrorists are foreign-born lunatics wearing explosive vests.
True terrorism is an idea, more than an act. Your reference to 9/11 was spot on. The aftermath of that event far exceeded to event itself. How many Americans have died in Iraq. 5,000? How many wounded? 40,000?
9/11 was a preview.
Over six months ago I predicted falling gas prices as Election Day neared.
This time, the lowered prices seem to take a little wind away from the "Drill, baby, drill" blowhards.
Has anyone calculated the effect of a national vehicle fuel mileage standard containing a requirement that all non-commercial use vehicles attain a MINIMUM of 22 mpg?
Considering that very few vehicles currently used for civilian/non-commercial purposes get nowhere near 22 mpg, the fuel savings would be substantial indeed.
The USA, the Beacon of Democracy, the Land of Opportunity, the Right to Vote, are all subject to a patchwork of voting laws, requirements, and enforcement provisions practically requiring that each and every voter should have an attorney at his/her side when going to the polls.
As a further measure, I'd want to add a private cop to swing his nightstick at the Republicans refusing my entrance to the voting place unless I prove my citizenship and that I am not a convicted felon.
This is not a pretty picture, and it sure as hell does not promote democracy in the world.
All bad news, surrounding Palin of course, has totally derailed McCain's campaign.
Ad to that the tone of his rallies and the voters are backing away from McCain as though he is a rotting corpse.
Promises by either candidate are not, as we know, not automatically put into effect after the election.
Rather, they are vetted through Congress and the public and then the voting can begin. Remember Hillary's healthcare proposals during Bill's presidential camplaign? They sounded pretty good for the most part but went nowhere.
So, what a candidate promises and what we actually get are always two different things. It's what they DON'T talk about that worries me.
For example, Bush and the Neocons were planning to take out Saddam long before Bush was elected president. We didn't hear about that during the his campaign.
Hasn't McCain promised "more Supreme Court Justices like Scalia and Thomas if I am elected"?
If that isn't a litmus test I don't know what else it could possibly be.
of the team that McCain will assemble if he is elected then, all debates aside, please vote for Obama.
to America digging itself out of its financial mess is to get out of Iraq as quickily as Maliki can be told "We're out of here by (date) come hell or high water".
Maliki wants a firm withdrawal date and we shouldn't deny him that.
More oil isn't the answer to any of the problems we currently face.
But don't tell that to the Republicans.
Check the record. Taxes have increased more under Republican administrations.
And, Obama voted against attacking Iraq, which will be the mother of all tazes.
Now there is a plan that no one else has thought of.
I wonder why?
and say what needs to be said. There is no such thing as a "maverick" Republican. The Republican Party is run under the iron fist of the Republican National Committee and the religious loonies.
McCain cannot peel enough skin off to get away from that.
And Palin, my God what a piece of work.
We are a nation of fools, easily played by politicians, business, and religion.
Just give me my MTV.
Just asking ...
"Joe the plumber", the vaunted inspiration of McCain's tax policy, isn't licensed and owes back taxes.
However, McCain was apparently duped (again) by his campaign and McCain put foot-in-mouth in Debate III.
Add that to the facial twitching, tics, and verbal stumbling and you have to wonder if it's the medication or his mental condition.
You're standing in a burning building while criticizing the fire department.
Will it be McCain, or Obama.
You decide.
I can make a case for "inciting to riot" wherein the party of the first part need not have a relationship with the party of the second part.
However, any actions taken by one party that are perceived by the second party as a cause for direct action does not absolve the second party from reponsibility.
Palin inferring that Obama is a terrorist, or that he knowingly associates with and supports terrortists, is irresponsible and may be perceived as a disqualification to be the vice president of the United States.
Apparently "trickle down" has not worked very well.
Let's try "trickle up". At least that starts with poeople who really need the help.
Tha masses will eat steak while the Republican elites eat crow.
Howcome the Christian Right has been so silent on these issues? I guess if Republicans engage in open hatred it must be OK.
Hi! Just a helpful hint to assist you with your writing.
Use a spelling checker.
I know, I know. We ALL make mistakes. Myself makes mistakes but I yoosually ketch them before I hit "Publish" button.
The other suggestion is to please stop preaching to everyone. I had to quit attending church because of folks like you pretending to be the Chosen Carriers Of The Word Of God.
"The drug war unfairly limits young people's access to higher education.
The Higher Education Act, passed by Congress in 1998, restricts eligibility for any federal grant, loan or work assistance program for students convicted of a drug related offense, including simple marijuana possession.
Murderers and rapists are not subject to sanction under the act."
