We HAVE A Public Option

It's called MEDICARE !!!!

Make it available to the poor, and others that are denied private insurance.

Use MEANS TESTING and those (under age 65) that can, should pay a premium to use Medicare.

Why does all of this have to be so damn complicated?

Monday, September 28, 2009 05:34 PM

Apply Means Testing

Let the poor use Medicare, and their inability to pay must be verified.

Others, under 65 years of age, not able to get private insurance should be allowed to buy into Medicare.

Why does reform have to be so damn complicated?

Early Socialization Matters

One of the most important lessons learned at an early age is to get along with others, even others that you may not like or others that may not like you.

This is the essence of being human. Once you accomplish this you are ready to learn arithmetic, language, wood shop, homemaking, or whatever because you are comfortable when dealing with classmates and teachers. And in later life dealing with bosses and fellow employees.

If home schooling includes insulating the very young from their peers from the fear that such exposure will somehow "damage" them it is doing the child great harm indeed.

@NotOrbitBoy

Remember WMD in Iraq? We were lied into spending a trillion dollars on an unecessary war.

Now, the same people that OK'd that are crying about spending to try to help Americans and American jobs.

If that doesn't indicate acute stupidity, nothing does.

This Further Proves The Existence Of The Mental Firewall

Too many people are born with a mental firewall that permits them the ability to learn how to pee into a toilet but denies them the ability to use simple logic.

Highly educated people believing in the literal Bible exhibit the effect of this firewall perfectly. How can someone earn an advanced degree and believe that the world was created in six days?

Every species has the bright and the not-so-bright, even humans.

It Is Now 2012

The Dow is at 12,000, the job market is improving, healthcare reform has been passed (albeit not the exact plan Obama wanted), the real estate market is in slow recovery, we're holding things together in Afghanistan, inflation is up a bit but under control.

Not bad considering what Obama started with. Reelection is guaranteed, because every prediction of doom and gloom by the far right has been wrong.

It could happen.

Hold on ...

From The CEI Website

"CEI is a non-profit, non-partisan public interest group that studies the intersection of regulation, risk, and markets." This was included on the CEI page discussed here.

"Non-partisan" is a blatant lie. See for yourself (Non-partisan requires that equal weight be given to all sides of an argument).

PBS and NPR

are the best sources for news and information. Local newspapers fill the need for community stuff and the NY Times is the best read and the WSJ the best for printed financial news.

But PBS and NPR are indeed national treasures that have been the target of conservatives over the years. We've seen this before, way back when conservative "thinkers" rejected any consideration that the Earth was not flat.

You destroy your credibility, calling Obama a Marxist. It suggests that you get your "facts" from the Fox News propaganda machine.

Its Called Bribery

Giving money to people in order to influence their opinions or decisions is bribery.

"Bribery, a form of pecuniary corruption, is an act implying money or gift given that alters the behaviour of the recipient. Bribery constitutes a crime and is defined by Black's Law Dictionary as the offering, giving, receiving, or soliciting of any item of value to influence the actions of an official or other person in discharge of a public or legal duty. The bribe is the gift bestowed to influence the recipient's conduct. It may be any money, good, right in action, property, preferment, privilege, emolument, object of value, advantage, or merely a promise or undertaking to induce or influence the action, vote, or influence of a person in an official or public capacity."

Is our poltical system f'ked up, or what.

@JaaZee

For an excellent clinic on the art and science of political polarization in America, watch Fox News.

The Fox blowhards have done an excellent job of degenerating the entire healthcare discussion into sound-bites, lies, name-calling, and worse.

Sunday, September 20, 2009 03:18 PM

@JaaZee

Your comment on tort reform is not factual. The thing is, we don't know how much tort reform will save. Nobody has any idea, and that is why Obama has called for comprehensive investigations to determine the savings effect if tort reform is passed.

There Is A Price For Stupidity

If you are going to operate outside the law, don't get caught. That is Rule Number One.

The CIA failed to heed that, big time, and now it must pay the price.

Don't hide stupidity behind national security.

Obama Failed

to keep his healthcare proposals simple, stupid.

This played into the Republican propaganda machine and, boy have they done a job convincing the non-thinkers in this country.

Friday, September 18, 2009 10:43 PM

@astroturf jungle

Then, no doubt, you'd gladly refuse to accept Social Security, refuse to drive on public roads, use public bridges.

You get the picture.

Original article: In defense of ACORN

@Glock45

You conveniently fail to mention that all of the misdeeds you list apply to the Bush Administration and you can add their illegal wiretapping, lies to attack Iraq, the financial meltdown, Katrina, and more.

The Repukes lost the last two elections because American are done with the Republican hypocrisy, "do what we say, not what we do".

GOP Hiding Behind ACORN

The right wing's absense of ideas and their bankrupt policies are hiding behind ACORN, a smokescreen created and fed by Fox News and its propagandists.

It is pathetic when a Party has to resort to dredging up such inconsequential crap to distract the public while really important issues are ignored.
