He is a hollow tube through which evil flows.
Public Schools (in California, at least) are in part locally funded so schools in well-to-do areas enjoy benefits like higher salaries, better sports programs, better teachers, better learning materials.
This perpetuates the problems in inner-city schools and schools in economically depressed areas and communities. These schools cannot provide the same benefits as the wealthier schools.
This diminishes our society and is grossly unfair to students in poor schools who want to learn but cannot, due to poor teaching, etc. and a constant threat of violence.
Until this situation is fixed, true public education is only a dream for many Americans.
The Right loves simple solutions to any problem. That is why right wing talk shows are so popular with the Confederate Flag crowd.
Listening to these idiots, painful as it is, is necessary to understand the mental process that is clanking along in many conservatives' heads.
Once an enemy is manaufactured, simple solutions follow.
You bet. Put 35,000 extra cops in the most crime-ridden city in the USA and you will see the crime rate drop, so its not hard to imagine the immediate benefit we are seeing in Iraq.
Trouble is, it's not permanent. The Iraqis have yet to replace our troops with theirs (that's the plan) and now we are talking about DELAYING the promised timely troop reductions.
Also, the Iraqi government is still mired in conflict to the detriment of needed legislation.
If our present troop levels in Iraq remain throughout this year that will be the measure of failure in Iraq. The Republicans are hoping for troop reductions to aid the Election. Democrats are hoping for reductions with a deadline for an end to the war.
A majority of Americans are sick of Bush, Cheney and the rest of the neocon bunch that have been screwing up the country for the past 7 years.
Obama has energized an entire generation of voters because he is the opposite of the kind of "leadership" we have been saddled with in the present Administration.
We should expect no less from Fox News. Sometimes I feel that much of the "news" presented there is scripted to create just the kind of teapot tempests shown here.
Let's get on to something more substantial like, why does Hillary have such a deep voice or why does Obama speak in phrases just like the fire-and-brimstone preachers?
Ron Paul is mentioned by many as an answer to our political mess but he comes across as someone who is troubled because the ocean has waves when it should be nice and flat.
John McCain may be a Republican but he is probably too liberal for the GOP, willing to change his position as conditions warrant. Not a bad guy really but a Republican nontheless and that disqualifies him for my vote.
Actually, I voted (mail-in ballot) for Obama. I like his idealism and his ability to attract younger voters.
The future, like, you know, matters.
Was it McCain who said that he "would pick more SC justices like Thomas and Scalia"?
Scary, if true.
The Republicans' association with talk show loonies like Limbaugh, Hannity, et al demonstrates the depth of Republican thinking.
It really makes us look like a nation of idiots.
Conservatives seem to listen to Limbaugh every chance they get.
Why don't they run him? He has all of the answers to their problems and issues.
The simple-minded leading the feeble-minded. A perfect GOP candidate.
A Special Counsel will not be named. Our government is corrupted to the point where nothing will make a difference any longer.
This will be the Legacy of George W. Bush.
I guess our freedoms allow anyone to say anything regardless of truth or fact but shouldn't broadcasters be held to SOME level of truthful reporting?
When blowhards like Hannity, Limbaugh, O'Reilly get as much attention as they do it explains why the average American cannot sort out fact from fiction.
The Democratic majority in Congress woke George up to the fact that his pet strategist, Rumsfeld, had to be replaced.
If you will recall, immediately prior to the Election Bush said "Rumsfeld stays" to the critics of our war strategy.
Immediately after the election of the Democratic majorities in Congress Bush replaced Rumsfeld.
Keep this in mind: This would not have happened had the election sustained the Republican majority.
So, any Republican claiming credit for the military successes in Iraq must first credit the American voter for finally waking up and giving George a long-deserved kick in the butt.
The Democratic candidates would do well to precede every campaign speech with a thank you to the voters that caused this all to happen.
McCain deserves no credit here.
Just you wait and see. As we approach the Election we'll be getting more and more "good news" from Iraq.
The Administration will see to it that bad news is censored and "good news" will be the order of the day.
How many of us will remember the objectives of the "surge" and the fact that we will have to keep the elevated troop levels long past the promised date of end of deployment?
The Democrats need to keep reminding that we have made a terrible mistake in Iraq resulting in close to 4,000 dead, 30,000 wounded, and over a hundred thousand Iraqis killed or wounded not to mention millions displaced from their homes and communities.
This is the Bush legacy that Republicans continue to defend.
is gathered "under the radar" where it cannot be seen by anyone outside the intelligence community.
To have it any other way automatically renders the intel gathering process useless.
All this BS about FISA is election-year posturing by the Liar-In-Chief. Anyone not seeing through Bush has a vision problem.
In order for intelligence-gathering to be sucessful, it must be done in secret (duh). The rules don't apply here.
