  • Can't run the video...

[Read the article: Why grandmother, what large. . .]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Not sure what is wrong, but sometimes there is no screen and no video to view.

  • More smart guys in the room

[Read the article: A question for Rumsfeld: "Why did you lie?"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Is Rumsfeld in collusion with the Lay and Skilling defence team working here in Houston at the Enron trial? Mr Lay and Mr Skilling have forcefully implied that we, the unwashed public, are not quite bright enough to understand the complicated and creative accounting that has brought them before the jury. Rumsfeld and GW have that same exasperated tone when speaking about Iraq. But I see the arrogance eroding. This makes my heart pump a lot faster, in sheer joy.

  • Breathing again

[Read the article: Colbert: Not just a flop, but "rude" and "a bully" too]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Colbert must have broad shoulders, otherwise he would fall over from the imbalance. He is the only person, journalist, satirist or otherwise, to give me hope that America is not broken beyond repair. It is not Mr Colbert alone that has untied the knot in my stomach, but the breathtaking show of support for his brave truthiness from the true silent majority. Don't stop now.

  • Priceless!

[Read the article: Twist of Tate]

Maybe it's time to give BBC America another go.

  • Heather got soul

[Read the article: I Like to Watch]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

"The Sopranos" is compelling because, more often than not, we lose awareness of the artifice as we are sucked into the story, into the lives of people who we may not like but who seem very, very real to us. [Wendy]

Yes! the Sopranos, some of BG, Friday Night Lights-- TV that is surprising, interesting, compelling. I await new episodes in much the same way I await Heather's column each week. Soul food!

Heather has soul, Mr pretentious "TV is meaningful" toon has none. Just my opinion. Another opinion: aside from meaningful documentaries and meaningful news specials, TV is entertainment.

All dogs have soul. (And I wish that post about torturing spaniel puppies could be deleted.)

  • Happy ending

[Read the article: "The Sopranos" prediction pool]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Ok, I know Tony is immoral and/or amoral and savage and pathetic and deserves to pay for his sins, and if this was a classic play or made-for-tv movie this payment would certainly happen in the predictable way. But I want a "happy" ending for this most disfunctional Italian family, if not for the disfunctional mob family:

By last episode, Tony has realized what a monumental shit he has been (possibly enlightened in Las Vegas under the influence) his whole life, and wants only to save his family. He will do whatever this takes; and this will mean his death, whether dramatic or painfully irrelevant. Carmela and offspring survive. They have been complicit but-- we all have.

Good bye Tony, thanks for saving your family. Hope Hell isn't too hot.

  • Mastermind

[Read the article: Friday game: WordBreaker]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Only played WordBreaker once so far and won with the word PEND. I enjoyed the game; reminded me of the game Mastermind, in which you and an opponent try to guess the colors and order of a series of pegs on a board.

  • Let's not blame RSU for Video Dog's demise...

[Read the article: Red State Update: Time for a checkup]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Of course Video Dog needs an injection of new material and fresh sources. I think pretty well everyone gets the message by now, but thanks for hammering it home day after day, folks.

In any case, I think Red State Update would fit into in any new Video Dog format. I love the boys from Tennessee. They are hilarious. Keep 'em coming, please.

  • I happen to like Sean, Scott, Jackie and Dunlap, Buns and Chou Chou...

[Read the article: Tony Cartoons: Don't look now]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

But I agree that Video Dog would benefit from a wider variety of content and talent, and haven't we been promised a change?

I await the submissions that some of you will love (at last!), but that will only put me to sleep or cause me to vomit or drive me to cancel my Salon subscription. I will suffer as you have suffered. ...Hmmm, no, I think I will just skip the ones I don't like. Then maybe go walk the dog.

  • They make me laugh

[Read the article: Red State Update: Death of a parrot]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

...ain't nuthin' wrong with that. ;-)

  • Oh, I didn't get the lithium part...

[Read the article: Scott Bateman: Meet the Lithium League]

...just enjoyed it as a strange little vignette about the limitations of superhero-hood in children. Duh. Those poor little aerial-heads and all kiddies are under pressure to save the world. So let them have their pills. God knows I could use some.
