I gave up listening to the latest food fad years ago. Probably about the same time I stopped looking at women's mags because I realised they only made me feel bad. And about the same time I decided not to diet anymore. I lost interest in conforming to the latest body fad about that time too.

Funny thing happened.

My weight not only stabilised, but before it did that it went down to the proper wieght for MY body. I ate when I was hungry and what I seemed to want. I stopped looking at food as substitutes for other things in my life.

That was 20 years ago and I still eat anything I want. I like good tasty food. I refuse to get hung up on sin and eating. My body does seem to crave things that are good for me. I rarely crave sugar, salt or fat but when I have a craving - I satisfy it. And I enjoy walking, running, biking, gardening and being outside. I don't use food as a stress release. I try and lead a healthy lifestyle because it feels better to me - not because it is the new religion.

We have SO much emotion and psyche wrapped up in our relationship with food. I think it would be a good thing to stop worrying about it and just eat what you like.

And when your body is hungry.

All those new fads and 'discoveries'? Well, they sell a lot of books and magasines, don't they.

Nutjobs for nutjobs, I guess.

There is something about these religio-nutcases that seem to desire destruction. I don't know if it is to hasten their joining with their god, or if believing in a end of the world destruction type of religion naturally brings about a self-fulfilling wish to return to a rubbish heap.

Why can't they be happy with what has been destroyed during the last 8 years? Greedy little buggers, these "conservatives"!

Let's re-phrase the question.

At what point does an American woman cease to have the physical integrity that an American man has? At conception? Should there be compensation for her deminished personhood while she houses the zygote->fetus? Or should women just be considered lesser forms of life during their reproductive years?

If a child somewhere needs a kidney to live, can the government force an adult to give up one of theirs if it is a match?

If someone, anyone, is in a permanent vegetative state, are they to hold all rights as a person? Will tax payers pay to keep the body alive as long as possible?

Two words: Dick Cheney

We are becoming one of the biggest embracers of anti-intellectualism in the world. Really quite amazing for a "modern" industrialized country. For all we proclaim about wanting good schools for the children, those children eventually pick up on way this nation really thinks of education and educated people. And the ranks of the underachievers increase.

George Bush is a graduate of both Yale and Harvard and I think the only reason his "electorate" don't hold it against him, is that even they know he didn't get to those schools on academic talent. So he's not a smarty pants or what ever they think of someone like an Obama, or a Clinton, or a Gore.

I want someone who is capable of being a world leader as President - and as the Vice President as well. No more gazing into eyes to see their souls.

Wow - sure have a whole collection of them here today!

I wasn't aware that Britney has done anything of real worth - you mean she was better than everyone else in those categories?

I never got the Britney mania - she was always an over produced over controlled manifistation of what a Pop Princess was supposed to LOOK like.

Music be damned.

A lot of women working in a professional jobs (doctors, engineers, etc) are married to men in the similar field. They met them going to school or at work. So you get a professional couple who do the family thing and both work and both share the home front chores.

These men don't work as many hours as the men who married women who are not working outside the home.

I've come to the believe that Americans deserve the government they elect. I came to that believe after they re-elected Bush in the face of obvious wrong-doing and corruption which was leading to financial ruin and international shame.

Unfortunately I have to suffer along with the rest of them as those elected destroy my country.

If McCain/Palin are elected I think the rest of the world should just go ahead and work around us (keeping a close eye on our military ambitions). They already have started to do that - since 2004 proved that American voters are even more brain washed than the people in North Korea.

Professional men with 'traditional' wives make more money than the same men with working wives. Plenty of studies out there to confirm this.

The reason is those men with the wives taking care of kinder, kucken, and kirken are freed to work more hours and not be distracted with getting Jimmy to soccer practice, or making sure there are clean clothes for the next work week.

I've seen the differences in working hours between men who have SAH wives vs the ones with working outside the home wives.

I've never run across a professional woman with a SAH husband so I can't compare women. ( I know I would have a HELL of a lot more time if I had a "wife" who kept up my home chores!)

One of the reasons that men work more hours than women is that they have a woman working for them and freeing up the time.
