mommy wars?

Perhaps Broadsheet is looking to start the usual fight?

My understanding of the other Mother in Coraline is that she is something of a fantasy for Coraline. She feels over looked and not having enough attention from her real parents - from her real Mother. (a lot of children feel that at some point whether their mother stays at home or works)

So in this alternate world, the Other Mother is (at first) everything Coraline wants. Over indulgant, very focused on her, lots of attention. Then Coraline experiences the down side.

Why is this a Mommy War again? Does this have something to do with the media desire for a cat fight?

This whole Mommy War thing is a manufactured issue. I suppose it covers all bases in the on-going desire that women feeling guilty about something - and then will buy product XYZ and magazine ABC to justify their particular decision, or feed the not-good-enough guilt trip.

cat fight

@maalik

I think this is just a made up fight to get people going - primarily the anti-woman trolls who will hijack this thread to talk about how awful women are, and the women who will argue back at them.

Why not make a buck?

Anna Nicolle Smith wanted to be adored, talked about, paid attention to and get as much money as she could wiggle out of people.

Was she a sad soul? Yes. But her neediness cost her her life, her son his, and her daughter a mother. Not sure I have much sympathy.

However, Anna always wanted to be another Marilyn Monroe. She could buy the body parts but not the talent. The "opera" seems a good match. We love a bimbo who reassures us with a stereotype and Anna would LOVE knowing people are still talking about her.

Just like Marilyn.

Don't look at it as making a buck - look at it as honouring Anna's life wish.

Original article: Pardon the Bush miscreants

No jail time - just fines

This is stupid. Not only did the Bush-Cheney gang break or circumnavigate our own laws, but lots and lots of people died. Lots of lots of people are financially stressed.

The greedy and the imperialists benefited.

And we should pardon them?

Fine - no jail time but they have to relinquish all their holdings past and future to pay off the cost to the taxpayers for their war.

They can live off a job as a Walmart Greeter.

Perhaps the world should have just pardoned the Nazis? I mean - punishing them would not bring back the millions that died so it would be better to forgive and go on. Is that the thinking?

Personally, I believe those responsible for the horridness under apartheid should have been punished - not pardonned.

Watergate, Iran-Contra, Abu Graib and the entire Iraq war and wiretapping and torture - if you break the law - do it in a big way and you'll be pardoned and live out a want free life.

She's not marching to the beat of a different drummer

Come on, she is not being picked on because she is a women, or because she transgresses society norms.

She is the recipiant of such vitriole because she brought 14 more children in to the world with no means of support. And not a plan aside from public pleas. She went to great lengths and expence to make these children a reality.

People know they are going to have to pick up the tab - California social services has LOTs of money, right? Who will be denied help due to the extreme expence this one woman has incurred? People know they will probably have to pay for what happens to those children who have physical problems and if their mother is an indication - probably emotional problems later.

And caring for out of control teens - that will be easier on California social services than the infants. Yeah - teens are always easier than infants!

The infants are still in the hospital which is now wondering who will pay. People know THEY will pay with higher costs.

You can't live on school loans - not if you are also paying for school. Providing for a family of 15? Even if living in your parents home? Sorry. OTHER people are going to foot the bill for this act. And the children will pay the price.

I am very sorry she didn't get enough emotional support when she was a child. Perhaps she should have used her settlement money getting counsiling instead of bringing 14 human beings in this world with no means or plans to get them to adulthood.

When people do things that affect others in very negative ways - they do deserve to be beat up on.

Why the anger

I think the reason this woman makes so many people angry is that there is not a damned thing that can be done without punishing the children.

The Duggars - as "crazy" as their mindset is, they are at least not relying on public assistance.

This woman is very clearly believing that society will pay for her choices.

And we will.

Someone brought up jobs. Suleman is gong to burden the system which will have to make cuts to meet her children's needs. Jobs will be cut, services curtailed, employees left will be even further burdened . . . . and there is not a damned thing that can be done.

The train of needy children has left the station.

I am glad God told her she should have no more children. Now she starts listening to the voices? Little late, me thinks.

breast or boob?

Ah! I see . . . semantics.

I always thought "breasts" were what women have growing on their body, and "boob" is what you have when you mix flesh and silicon.

Or is that a Frankenboob? So confusing.
