Invade Iraq

@Calif Mike

“He became president intending to invade Iraq.” Did he tell you that in a private conversation with you?

My personal opinion is that Bush had no thought of this when he began he run for President. He just didn't like to pay taxes.

Cheney and gang, however, wanted very much to do this. No personal conversation - just the letter to Clinton demanding Iraq invasion and overthrow of Sadam, just the papers outlining the reasoning (to put american military forces in the center of the middle east to effect control) stated in the Policy for New American papers.

The signers on which are a whos who of our Iraq invasion.

It is not a stretch to say that the Pres and Co-Pres put in office January 2001, very much DID want to invade Iraq. I am just not sure when Bush got on that particular wagon.

Wow!

Never thought I would read such a clear message - supporting right to decide to continue a pregancy, support accurate information, supporting the right that girls and boys have access to the same opportunities . . .

I am actually shocked that a politician, even a pro-choice one, would be so clear.

Oh - and about the last 8 years? A lot of us lost jobs. A lot of us lost health insurance because of it. A lot of us have jobs that don't have vacation or sick days. It has been layoff city since 2001. And incremental destruction of what I believe America stands for. Angry for 8 years? Watching people who are dismantling America and who will never bear responsibility (that's for the serfs and scooters) that is justification for anger.

Obama is the first president I ever voted for. All the others were votes against.

This is great!

Reagan and Costs

Once upon a time, State Universities were much more affordable and yes - you could work your way through.

I was in college - working my way through - when Reagan cut federal funds going to state schools. My tuition went up a full 25% as a result. I dropped out and only continued years later by loading up on loans.

This is a bogus argument - that easy access to loans or grants made the tuitions go up. It was the DECREASE in public support both federal and state wide that has made more of the costs be shifted to the students (and their families)

Why are "conservatives" so against education? Why this anti-intellectualism? Before Reagan I do believe that even "conservative" types believed in education. There was this weird sort of cognisant dissonance apparent during the Bush years - that a Yale and Harvard education politician appealed to the proudly anti-education electorate.

Making it easier for people to have access to education and promoting it - that will do far more for us as a country. What I pay in taxes now? More than I grossed prior to getting an education. How is that not better?

There in lies the problem

Only the wise look at history to try and make sense of today and head for a better tomorrow.

all you have to do is go back to 1953 and read your history

Bush does not do nuance. Americans don't do history.

Crazy thing - that Bowling for Columbine movie? The basic premise was illustrated perfectly in our response to 911 - massaged and herded by Cheney/Bush. We are largely a country in a constant and low level state of fear.

It's good for business - at least for some.

judged

I think it is about not wanting to be judged as shallow if you "choose" to get cosmetic surgery.

Kind of funny. She feels she need to alter her self because she looks at herself through society's eyes and judges herself defective. So she alters her self and looks through society's eyes and judges her actions shallow.

Size xyz

As people have said - she sells T&A. She used to sell the dumb blond virgin T&A, then got marred and it was dumb blond T&A. Now it is a minimal song and dance act to go with the T&A.

When that is your target audience - you should realize that audience will be very cruel - they are not there for your talent since the only thing that is considered worth - is your T&A.

That said, Jessica is a beautiful woman who is hardly fat. She doesn't look toned but definately not fat. Why her sister brought up "size 2" is bewildering though. I am not sure she is trying to tell people her sis is size 2? Unless Jess is very very short - she is not a size 2. But if she was size 2-4-6-8-10 - none of those sizes indicate she is "fat"

I hope (not holding my breathe) that with the new attitude since January 20th - this focused snarky criticism of women's bodies will disappear. It has really entered pure nastiness realm over the last few years.
