Original article: W. and the damage done

Clinton vs Bush.

Clinton didn't cause the havoc that Bush(and Cheney gang) have done.

There is nothing irrational about despising Bush and his legacy.

The Clinton ranters seem to think having an affair was the worst thing a president could do.

I'd say look at the country now.

Bush and Cheney are setting off to fish and play golf. The rest of the country is treading water, hoping it will stop raining sometime soon.

barbies

I am struck at how rag-doll these women are. No faces, just Biafra like limbs. They look like a dead jumble of plastic.

A day or so a go, Playboy's Hef newest "girlfriend" was interviewed. Not sure if she has the requisite boob job or not (sooner or later since they are free perks of the job), but her face looked like a doll - a barbie - very plastic looking. Not real at all. Like the bodies on these starved women.

As someone said, these are opposite sides of the same coin. For a lot of these women, their self image is tied up in how closely they conform to some outside ideal.

Wonder what the differences in psyche are between the women who want to look as frail as possible, and those who want to look as close to a sex toy?

Wierd wierd. But I guess the extreme body builders (mostly male) are in the same strata?

Reassuring stereotypes

But fulfilling jobs aren't what these two women want out of life. They barely even seem to want husbands.

Unfortunately, I have known a number of women like this. And getting a college degree in a male dominated field? You still find them there. I've avoided women like that - I don't like being grouped with them.

But there are at least as many women who aren't hooked on white wedding porn as those who are. But many people find just believing women are monolythic easier.

Yes this movie is targeted at women and that is who will comprise the majority of the audience. I won't be there. I won't even watch it when they play it on Sunday afternoon local TV station. Waste of time and I hate seeing my gender being protrayed so stupidly.

However - there are LOTS of movies protraying a stereotypical peter pan slacker guy who gets his happy ending at the end of the movie too. They aren't targeted to women. Men (and their girlfreinds) are the audience. Do men find the protrayal of sophomoric idiots insulting? Are there women who believe all men are at the essential level this way?

Why aren't the PeterPan Schlubs marrying the Bridezillas?

There will always be more movies portraying a male stereotype than women because women will have a harder time getting a man to go to the chick flic than men will have getting women to go to the dick flic. (not meaning to offend - but what do you call them?)

But what I find interesting is this: does there seem to be more and more gender stereotype movies these days? Does it have to do with the relentless bad news we have been living with in the US for the past 7 years? Do people find something reassuring about stereotypes?

Is this the noveau version of skewball comedies that were popular 60-70 years ago?

That thought is more interesting to me.

What Americans believe

Do Americans know what they are missing? Do you guys know that most of the industrial world gets months paid leave when they have a baby

Most Americans have been brainwashed to believe that the benefits that so many other countries get, are socialism and there for very bad!

It is much better to get wars and military and socialized medicine for politicians for our tax dollars. Heaven help us if we get a better saner society! We need people to fall through the cracks - how else will we tell if we are doing well if we don't have the unfortunate to compare ourselves to?

Oh, having a baby is a choice when it comes to work. Having a baby is gods punishment when it comes to unplanned pregnancy. Not working while taking care of an infant is pure laziness when it comes to poor single women. Working when you have an infant is selfishness when it comes to the middle class. Boobs are for Hooters not for babies. Nursing women are exhibitionists. Bottle feeding women are cold and lack maternal instincts.

Divide and conquor.

I wonder if we will ever change?

Cultural Practices?

Not beating up on any one but why is it that when it is females being sold off, covered up, handed over as wife number 9 to one of daddy's buddies, genitally cut, educationally restricted, why is that said to be a cultural practice and we should understand.

Dog fighting is against the law - as is cock fighting. Cultural practice in this activities is not an allowable excuse.

Oh yeah - what is an 18 year old doing with 16 grand.

Shout it from the highest buildings!

Any brilliant insights on how to make the next immigrant father NOT sell his daughter for a brideprice?

Yeah - my idea is to make crime and punishments of this sort very publicized. Word of mouth in that "community" will get the news out.
