weight and value

Seriously - women need to stop letting outside values influence how they feel about themselves.

Unfortunately, you either have to reject your peer group as a teen or young adult - or you comply - or you feel unworthy of value. And if you comply - you usually don't feel good about yourself to any depth.

What can men do? I know this is a serious question but the emphasis male teens and young adults put on a particular narrow image of what is considered attractive in females - their female peers get it and that recognition lasts a life time. So attractive adult women have a hard time believing that their mate finds them attractive - especially if the woman is aware how far she is spinning away from the "ideal".

I don't know how you go about getting men to reject that uber thin with big implant and shaved cooter look that seems to have been the current rage for the last decade. Men I've talked to about this image don't think there is anything wrong with it - and that it is attractive. So . . . . there you go.

Women get it. And they shave their pubic hair off and get implants but nothing but diet diet diet will get you that kind of thin.

(For what its worth - I think living a healthy life seems to make for attractive people - but part of that healthy attractiveness is the rejection of media's portrayal of female. If more Sororieties spent time promoting a less destructive image for females - then good. )

Size 6?

That's so . . . . HUGE!

Size 4 is now where it's at. Huge tits are still in mandatory though.

35 hour workweek?

Really? Where do I sign up!

No one I know, male or female is working a short week.

I do know a few people who do work less than 40 hours at a workplace, but they have several other things they are working on - for income. In other words - more than one job. I know quite a few people who don't work at all - but they were laid off and are looking for jobs. And sorry - women who get laid off don't always have a man's paycheque for a back up.

I really am disgusted at this idea that women are slackers. Not in my small bit of the world.

MMM - how in the world do you meet so many that are?

porn and boys

@Asehpe

Just to be a provocateur . . is there any harm with boys getting their sex infomation from porn magazines? And girls too for that matter.

new diseases . . .

Remember when the pharmies were peddling shyness as a social disease?

And they had just the pill to take to cure it!

I can't wait until they define anti-intellectualism (phobia of smart people) as a disease.

This country sure needs a pill for that!

politics

It is just what they are willing to give up (for the initial period) if they could put into effect a law criminalizing abortion.

religion and women

Heh!

I've noticed that the religions which seem to be the most harsh concerning women, image and acceptance, those religions are supported by a lot of women - women do all the crumb work and then go to the back of the bus, so to speak.

burqa and belly dancing

Belly dancing is Mediterranean - Egypt.

The Burqa is Saudi.

What is most remarkable to me is Islam is a religion based on Mohammed - who worked for an older business woman - a widow.

He ended up marrying his boss and thus his place in history was made.

Perhaps the big problem with Islamic Fundies is that Mohammed would be no where if it hadn't been for that woman, who ended up funding and protecting her young boy wonder.

word on the word of warning

I was told (by a man who SWEARS it doesn't matter that Obama is black! Some of his best friends, ya know) that we shouldn't vote for Obama because some red neck will kill him and then the Blacks will rise Up and America will be in a Race War. So because of that - we should vote for the white guy.

Oh, and Obama is going to take away our guns. That too.

managers' ages

Anyone who is 10 years older than the managers they work for will be labelled "old"

And "old" in many fields means "out of date" "can't get them to work weekends" and "health problems lurking"

Women are far more susceptible to "old is useless" thinking, but men are starting to catch up to this.

Shooting your skin and muscles full of fillers and toxins is not "taking care of yourself".

erotic

When women are finally totally covered, the sound of her shoes clicking on the floor will be deemed dangerously erotic.

In a nudist colony, the wearing of socks would seem seductive.

patriotism and taxes

When her son is in Iraq, who does she think is paying his wages?

Who does she think will pay if he is injured, minor or major.

Who does she think is paying for that damned war?

Who paid for the education her kids got and are getting, and never mind the fact that the older two seem not to value.

The woman is an idiot - but there are hordes of them out there in America - and she wants to be Queen of the Hyenas.

eye of the beholder?

Perhaps the solution is to blind and deafen the uber religious men, who seem to believe that women put lust in their heart via magic.

Islam is not the only religion that depends on the dress of women to demonstrate their 'dedication', but it is the one most loudly doing so.

I always want to ask . . . if men are so powerless in the company of women, perhaps it is men that need to be closeted behind the home compound walls - let the women run the country.

I am sure they will fail as well as any man, but I don't think as much money will be squandered on gambling, drinking, porn and Philipino maids.
