Original article: To your health, ladies

subsidies

Okay - maybe we just need a single insurer to do away with all this "women and hypochondriacs" whining.

I buy my own insurance. I pay more because I am female than a male of my age.

But because if I did get really sick, or injured, medical costs would bancrupt me, I have to have insurance. I work extra to afford insurance. It is not fun. But I am happy I found something that is cheaper than COBRA.

However . . . .

I subsidize the "breeders" and I have no children nor will get pregnant. I susidize the hot head young males who get in more accidents and have more drug/alcohol related incidents than I ever did or will. I subsidize the obese and I am not. I subsidize the mentally ill and I have no mental disease. I subsidize the the lazy asses on their sofas and I am fit. I subsidize the kids who are always going to the doctor and I do not. I subsidize men with ED and I have no sexual problem. I susidize the cancer victims and I have none. I subsidize people with the flu - and I rarely get a cold.

Oh, and I subsidize the old and I am not - yet.

Get the picture?

Stop whining. If you are that healthy you should be very very thankful.

If you don't want to subsidize those less healthy than you then pay as you go and hope you never get a major illness or injury - otherwise shut the fuck up. One payer systems work because EVERYONE is in the pool. And it is cheaper overall and provides more coverage to more people than our current supply system.

What does NOT work is a for profit system of health insurance - at least it doesn't work for the medical profession or the patients.

Original article: Bad mommy? Bad society!

Humour?

Attaining relational exclusivity and proving kinship to my children by foregoing my last name or living with a hyphen? No way in hell.

Man, that's rich!

No place like home

"I fear I won't know how to protect my child from a world that may often tell her that she's not good enough as she is. That, in order to get ahead, she's going to have to deny some part of herself."

Yeah - bizarre that she really is that blind to herself. The writer's daughter is going to have all that "not good enough and what you are is undesirable" to deal with right at home - with brothers who were encouraged to be dismissive of anything thought to be girly.

How sad.

honesty

It is only unreasonable to expect monogamy from your partner if is also unreasonable to expect honesty.

Change of contract

His attempt to survive politically at the expense of humiliating his wife and himself is abominable.

This is what I so despise in these public figures that cheat on their wives. And the talking heads that heap blame on the cheated upon woman.

I hope you aren't refering to me as the castrating one - I just leave. But I've left for other sorts of lying as well. I don't care for people who can't walk their own talk.

"Open" marriages are fine but only valid if both parties are cognisant and aware. Otherwise it is just run of the mill cheating. My preference is for a monogamous form of intimacy. As do most people. And for me, it has nothing to do with religion.

divorce

No arguement from me there - women do initiate divorce more often than men. I'd wager that is because as long as men are getting something out of the marriage they stay until something better comes along. Women seem more accepting of total change and being alone than being in a poor relationship.

My comment is related to infidelity with in a marriage. Men seem less able to "tolerate" it from their wives than the reverse. If tolerate is what you want to call it. Women are also more likely to internalize the blame.

Infidelity by either more oft than not leads to divorce (and initiated by the woman mostly) but women are more likely to "work through the issues" if the man cheats than if the woman cheats on the man.

No "Stand by your Woman" phrase of the same meaning that I know of.

Old sick and ugly

@postnoodz

And the blame to Spitzer's wife who didn't give him what he "needed". And Ted Haggart's wife - though what she was supposed to supply there, I just don't know.

And of course, the ugliest of them all - Hillary.

All women who "forced" their man to lie and cheat and change the relationship without informing their wife first.

Yes of course! Lizzie should have told her hubbie to go fuck other women and try not to let the thought of her dying get in his way - what a selfish bitch!

Funny thing is though, statistically, women tend to "forgive and work on the relationship when the husband cheats. The wife internalizes his act by finding fault in herself. Women who cheat, however, their husbands tend to divorce - the husband does not internalize the blame and instead puts it squarely on the one who did the deed.

I truely wish women would stop "standin' by their man" - I wish in this instance, women should look at how men handle infidelity and emulate it.

passive aggressive

There are a number of posters who come here to Broadsheet and post some of the hostile things they can never saw to their wives. AG is just the latest to show up.

Reminds me of when Ted Haggart got outed and Dr Laura among others started talking how it is women's fault that their hubbies cheat (and lie).
