Pelosi and Murtha

Dear Mr. Grieve:

Last night (11/30) on "The Daily Show", Ms. Pelosi can be heard saying that Murtha "speaks for himself".

Beats me...

Marion Barry

What a mess of a man. What a dishonor to his bravery and conviction - that other kind of conviction - during the civil rights struggle.

Think you let gender sympathy influence your rating.

No laughs and a lot of cringes adds up to way lower than a 3.

The Machinist

Just when my interest in Salon was beginning to flag, something new and without agenda (nothing against agendas per se, but there's virtually no relief from them these days)!

Anyway, most useful and fun.

Thank you.

The Zero Estate

And haven't we been down this road before: hollow-chested intellectuals going all brain-dead in the presence of manly men? Thus, George W. Bush. Thus, Ronald Reagan...On the brink of brain-deadedness himself.

Bury Them

Yes, it would add to the expense, but let's get these darned lines - which we desperately need - underground where they not only would not deface the landscape - be it urban, suburban, picturesque rural or grand - but would be far safer from natural and man-made cataclysms.

Reality is that all that sun and wind is far from the areas which so need their clean power. Reality is our grid is an archaic mess. Reality is that, of course, traditional power companies would benefit while new technologies and sources develop to replace them.

Please, fellow environmentalists, quit the wynging and provide solutions.

Really? You expected legitimate debate?

More likely the allure of being on the small screen - regardless of venue - was just too strong.
