I am definitely stealing this one
[Read the article: War advocates like Anne-Marie Slaughter demand that you forget the past]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"There has to be a place for redemption, otherwise the almost universal belief in the virtue of acknowledging error and learning from it is meaningless."

Just an accusation in the form of a question with no evidence
[Read the article: Journalists, McCain and the false Iran/al-Qaida link]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Is McCain one of those institutional anonymous sources that lets journalists churn out a fifty hour story in an hour and a half?
Is McCain given a public pass by some journalists because he gives them a private pass?
Does burning a source really have anything to do with anonymity?
Is "who butters your bread" just a lubricant joke?

To wake and be happy again
[Read the article: Journalists, McCain and the false Iran/al-Qaida link]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Last fire before spring.
To liberate such energy, the years trapped in circles. If only my cremation smelled so sweet. If I could bring light and heat. The scent that jerks the city out of bed puts the country to sleep. So many differences making so little difference.
My axe now sleeps with winter clothes and I long for summer dresses and detente with the trees. Mostly summer dresses. And shade. And passion. It is going to be a hot summer.
I want to sleep underneath the Weeping Willow as it cries all night quietly.
Its tears all around me.
I'll sleep there so soundly until I'm allowed finally to wake and be happy again.
To wake and be happy again.

Tiny You Are Hell
[Read the article: Tactics of the right-wing noise machine]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Aycharaych said,
Long URL's often run over into the ads on the right side of the screen and are unusable, you can't read or copy them.
www.tinyurl.com will fix that by making a very short URL from the long one, you can post the shortened URL and everyone can go and see the site you link to.
I hope this doesn't seem too strident.
1) Tinyurl is a private company that will one day go out of business and every "link" that has been obscured by their system will no longer operate.
2) The problem is with Salon's software not the with the internet.
3) I have never and will never click on a "tinyurl" and I believe that anyone who does is a complete idiot. (sorry to be so harsh)
4) Goatse and and tubgirl are now the least of your worries when you click on a "tinyurl."

By the way
[Read the article: Tactics of the right-wing noise machine]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Please DON'T go searching for goatse or tubgirl. SERIOUSLY.
You have been warned.

[Read the article: Tactics of the right-wing noise machine]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]It is your retinas and your browser cache and your ass that gets to explain to your wife or a jury. You can do with them what you want.
When was the last time anyone went back and read Glenn or anyone from 2 years ago?
I do it all the time.
And besides, you are wrong, I design web sites inter alia, and I can tell you that a link to a newspaper or blog is MUCH more transitory than a link to tinyurl. They often break.
If the original link is broken so is the tinyurl. You are only adding one more possible point of failure.
And finally, you can call Aych or anyone here an "idiot" if you like, but you will find few "idiots" here, and most certainly Aych is not one of them. But he can, and probably will, speak for himself.
I don't think Aych or anyone here is an idiot, but my limited communication skills prevent me from expressing what I am actually talking about with out rickrolling people to some pictures they will NEVER forget.
The internet is a dark place. HARD and NASTY. One day you will know what I am talking about and you will call yourself an idiot.
Tinyurl is the work of the devil.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]An excellent point at 10:30. The "infinity minus one day" view of copyrights that has infected our legislators by the repeated inhalation of aerosolized mouse droppings is also a big part of the problem.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]I agree that Salon needs to fix the wrap problem...
The problem is not one of formatting, the problem is that Salon doesn't allow links. People route around this limitation by posting raw URLs. Raw URLs can sometimes be very long. The problem of long non-descriptive URLs was solved by links.

Jim White
[Read the article: What can and cannot be spoken on television]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]It appears that Rose has quite a nasty black eye and a bandage above it. Doesn't that just completely sum up how what we as Americans, and especially Rose as a journalist, deserve before we can approach Iraqis to ask them about what we have done?
Without necessarily agreeing with your symbolism I will add to the metaphor. He sacrificed his face trying to save his brand new MacBook Air.

Mr. Rose, we salute your dedication to disposable electronic goods.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]I agree that Salon believes that not allowing links will reduce spam. It is the same reason they close the threads after a few days. There are, unfortunately, certain technical people that believe that spam is the worst evil that ever has been or ever will be inflicted upon the human race.
Mostly they are the tech equivalent of the plumber who is either too stupid or too lazy to fix your toilet and will tell you with a straight face that learning to crap in the woods is an acceptable solution.
Luckily, these people will die out as technology permeates society and the phrase "but I am the magic wizard with tech skillz +7" will finally be grounds for termination and a chorus of derisive laughter.
