But who's fault is it for the confusion???
[Read the article: What's in a hat?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]That the world saw Jack Abramoff wearing this hat for the first time while admitting to such grievous transgressions, that much of the world will now associate this symbol of piousness with the gangster look, is a Chillul Hashem -- an act that shames the name of G_d.
Yeah, But who's fault is that. This guy never dressed like this before and certainly never acted pious, at least during the years covered by the indictment. Was he trying to signal he was repentant for the past? People love a repentant sinner. Was his contrition real or was it staged? Regardless, I do not think the general public should be held responsible for that confusion. It was Abramoff's acts that shamed god, along with all the rest of us for allowing this to continue by voting in his coconspirators over and over again.

Yeah, now tell us what's in store...
[Read the article: King Kaufman's Sports Daily]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]That's why it won't be long until your local 11 has its hand out looking for a new stadium financed by you, the taxpayers, if it doesn't already. Because the one place your boys can really get rich is on a sweet stadium deal, so it kind of kills the point for them to pay for it themselves.
Given I live and root for a team in the Beantown (Patriots) area, this is not going to happen. For those not in the know, the Patriots (through owner Bob Kraft) own their stadium outright. Now, what I would really want to know is if Goodell will continue in this tradition of perpetrating a fraud on the american populace, alongside cheapening Kraft's decision to build and buy outright (which furthers this fraud), or will he change things? Will he bring a franchise to LA? Will he do a better job of balancing player pay with owner profits (Tag made a good move just before leaving but it was years overdue) without screwing up the sport like the MLB has done time and time again?

Let Him Race
[Read the article: Racing hearts]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]You need to let him race. Period. End of Story. I know you do not want to do this. I know this seems antithetical but this is his passion, and removing that from his life removes what you fell in love with. You fell in love with a passionate man who lived for something you were unable to understand. However, it is that very passion I am sure you valued, although you may not realize it. And now it is gone. Embrace what it is you do not understand and you will find the meaning behind it. This is not all about you. It never was.
He was forced to give it all up in an ultimatum to satisfy your "set of hard-won values". What about his "set of hard-won values"? Values are subjective, relative and not always portable. Nor do I think this should mean that he is free to schedule everything around race weekends (which are probably only once every three weeks...), but it should not mean he has to give up this passion completely. He needs to find a new balance, as do you.

They are so greedy...
[Read the article: Rip, burn, get sued]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]...that they wont even take American Express!

Evidence of overextension....
[Read the article: Iran's new hostage crisis]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]If a great power cannot so much as avoid having its military personnel kidnapped in a region where it has a major garrison, that is a sign that it is overextended and must either commit more forces or leave.
...Ahhh, no. Try a result of a very conservative non-engagement policy. Think turn the other cheek. They had to have been under orders not to engage. Why else would 15 armed soldiers not fire on similarly armed attackers in a circumstance that clearly portended their potential physical harm/death. No, this was a failure not of the military but of the military's civilian leadership. hmmm... Sound familiar??

Hmmm... Let's look at this rationally
[Read the article: The battle for California, as seen by bike. Part 2]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]If during this week there would be no HTWW the real choice is do we get no HTWW or some amended focused posts on one topic. For those that don't care, that means they can ignore it for the week and they neither gained nor lost (you've already committed to the ride so the week is already lost). For the record, I will likely fall into this category but I will definitely look at a few posts before making that decision.
Then for those that do care and definitely want the posts, they win as they get something that would not have otherwise received. So this is a net sum zero gain for some, to a win for others. I say if you want, do it.

Who said anything about citizenship????
[Read the article: Will immigration reform turn red states blue?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]No one that I have been hearing has said anything about providing citizenship. Everything on the table right now is about temp and guest worker programs and eternal green cards. Actually, the real story is really the lack of increases in citizenship paths under most of the proposals being floated.
