RAR RAR APPLE RAR
[Read the article: Fake Springsteen praises Windows in heroically awful corporate video]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]FARHAD YOU"RE A SHILL ADMIT IT HOW MUCH DOES $TEVEN JOB$ PAY YOU
Haha; I have to admit it, I was pretty so-so about the Machinist feature until you started coming into letters threads to smack down the ubiquitous idiots. It's gotten to the point that with certain headlines (basically any that mention Apple or MS) I'll just go directly to the letters threads.
It's refreshing to see you and some other writers here step into the threads and take part in the discussion. Rock on Farhad.

Stupid
[Read the article: Fake Springsteen praises Windows in heroically awful corporate video]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Two-handed long swords blow chunks and you're obviously just a two-handed long sword shill (ie you get paychecks from BIG SWORD).

[Read the article: The painful task of measuring racism]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Don't you think it's a bit of a rhetorical leap to paint someone with the racism brush like that?
Your suspicion about the woman's motives seem no better-formed than her saying there's "just something" about Obama.
-
And to those of you saying "Well, that's the red states, let's forget about it"
[Read the article: The painful task of measuring racism]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I agree that electorally this may not be a problem for Obama, but he has made it pretty clear that he intends to redraw the electoral map and usher in a new kind of politics. Writing off Americans living in "red states" (which is almost universally a ridiculous term anyway) in order to get a 50.5% majority and a deadlocked government is hardly new or transcendent.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]"The price of gas at the pump has nothing to do with the economy."
I'd love to hear the reasoning that led you to this statement.

[Read the article: Does a vagrant-fighting "bum bot" give robots a bad name?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]As long as Bum Bot follows the Three Laws, then what's the big deal?

Well, Hillary hasn't done anything yet
[Read the article: Prepare for the assault on "Grand Theft Auto IV"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]That said, the Democratic party as a whole is way too comfortable with paternalistic policies in general.
While Obama doesn't seem to be as video game stupid as Clinton or others, I'm not sure he's really much different in the grand scheme of things.
I'm sure Cass Sunstein has a really clever way of describing such policies as a good idea, but I don't buy it.

APPLE SHILL HOW MUCH ARE THEY PAYING YOU???!
[Read the article: Analysts guess new iPhone will debut in June]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Just wanted to get that out of the way...
I love that they seem to think this is an amazing prediction, though. Doesn't it seem just logical that June would be the date for the new iPhone to debut?

Ron Paul supporters are going to game the GOP convention?
[Read the article: Bob Barr to run for president]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]These are the same supporters who thought he could win a primary.

"The rules"
[Read the article: Maryland delegate jumps to Obama]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I assume the Obama supporters will be back thumping on the rule book as they were when Clinton suggested this was a possibility. No?

@bearpaw1 et al
[Read the article: Maryland delegate jumps to Obama]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Well of course this thread has several examples of Obama supporters disagreeing with this move; it is after all a self-selecting group of commenters. I would point out the examples here of people approving.
The episode with Clinton however inspired hundreds of mostly just plain hateful comments.
I'm pretty skeptical of both candidates, so it's not like I'm pulling for one or another. In this case and the earlier one, I can't help but feel the entire primary process is a thin facade to convince the populace that we have a real part to play in the democratic election of our representatives.

[Read the article: Carville says Obama is likely nominee]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Even if the items you listed were true and/or good points, you have a very weak definition of scorched earth.
If the emphasis going forward is really to be on uniting the party (I've seen little evidence it's been split), I'd offer that a lot of this "Hillary is the devil" / "she wears pants suits" / whatever talk is massively conterproductive, considering that near 50% of the party voted for her in the first place.

Dropout in the making
[Read the article: Where are all the women going?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I'm an engineer in the defense industry now, and there's a good chance I'll be going off to law school next year. I'm male, but the observations should be similar.
As previously posted, engineering work is simply not rewarding. It's drudgery and very rarely mentally engaging unless you happen to be the extremely introverted type that loves data entry or coding or similar work. You can bust your ass to deliver results, yet expect to be met with at best a blank look of confusion from upper management. Upward mobility? Hah. Put in 10 years, then you might rate a supervisor position which carries no extra pay. Coworkers? I'm with very few of the traditional nerd type since I'm not in software, but your coworkers are mostly just cashing in to head home to their spouse and house each evening, they have no interest in forming friendships.
It's shitty work, plain and simple, whether you're male or female. I'd estimate that dropout rates are similar for men, and I've heard of 50% dropout rates elsewhere for lawyers.
If law school doesn't happen, I'll at the very least pursue a part-time MBA. Engineering in the US is a broken profession, and most people in it have as their main goal getting OUT of engineering and into another field or at least management.

Pants suits
[Read the article: Carville says Obama is likely nominee]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Yes, I'd say her pantsuits should be off-limits. After all, doesn't Obama mostly wear suits w/ pants? Oh, or were we generalizing about women who wear pants?

[Read the article: Carville says Obama is likely nominee]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I suppose you can say goodbye to ever winning an election then.
You are, after all, prosposing writing off about 50% of 50% of the country, relegating your party, whatever it may be, to permanent minority status.
Personally, I'd much rather compromise and win here and there. I dunno, that's just me.

Amity
[Read the article: Where are all the women going?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Choosing not to go into science/engineering (or choosing to leave) is not the same as being anti-science or anti-intellectual.
I'd never consider a career as a politcian; this does not make me anti-democracy.
