Original article: Michelle Obama's sacrifice

Damned if you do...

Funny, I seem to recall an outrage over Howard Dean's wife not choosing to quit her job to campaign with her husband (culminating in Diane Sawyer's incredulous questioning about it on Prime Time) I guess you can please some of the people some of the time...

Lost

Re: the lost flash forward, is it possible it wasn't the actual future but just one version of it? The thing that threw me was the scene where Jack is confronted in the hospital about his drinking/drug use. He says something to the effect of "Go upstairs right now and get my father, if I'm more drunk then he is I'll leave." It didn't even hit me until later because at first we thought we were watching a flashback, but his father is dead...right? I don't think its quite as cut and dry as this is what happens when they get off the island. As usual they may have answered one question, but left us with another.

Missing a major point

While this is an interesting question, it is flawed in that it assumes males cannot benefit from being immune to the 4 major strains of HPV. Its true males cannot get cervical cancer, but they can get penile, anal, lip, tounge, mouth, & throat cancer, all of which can be caused by HPV. The medical journal Oncology recently stated that in the next decade HPV will account for more mouth and throat cancer than smoking and alcohol combined. And those are cancers both males and females can get. Should boys be inoculated to protect girls? I say yes, but if there is any doubt there, consider you'd also be protecting the boys. Finally, setting cancer aside, genital warts don't discriminate between sexes either.

@ little lord baltimore

Could not agree more. I would like to see Obama win, but if he were not the nominee I could never vote for someone like McCain who is so opposed to everything I value. It makes me sad that some people apparently are willing to do just that.

Tuesday, March 4, 2008 03:10 PM

@ Michelle

So if Obama is the nominee you would punish him (and presumptively the nation) by voting Republican, all because you didn't like how the people who supported him acted? I don't mean to come off critically, but don't you think that's kind of like cutting off your nose to spite your face? And by the way, if you think Obama supporters are bad, wait till you meet the McCainiacs!

For the sake of arguement

Lets say there are hundreds, thousands, maybe even tens of thousands of Obama supporters who are sexist. This out of the millions who are supporting him and have voted for him over Hillary. So? I don't like it, and it shouldn't happen, but should I not vote for the best person for the job (IMO) because of some of the people who also like that person? This is the thing I can not get over with the people who say if their candidate doesn't get nominated they'll vote for McCain. (And by the way, I have heard far more of Clinton's supporters say that than Obama's) The thought that given the choice between voting for someone who is nearly identical policy wise to the candidate you support vs. voting for the extreme opposite out of some sense of spite makes no sense to me. It also makes no sense to not vote for Obama because less than 1% of the people who support him have said nasty things online or at a dinner party about Clinton. In the end its not the bloggers or talking heads who are going to the oval office.

The Enquierer?

If they are the ones that broke this story, any chance we can get them to make a bigger deal about the Ron Suskind bombshell? Cause now that EVRERYONE is talking about Edwards I fear no one will be talking about that.

@ Gratefule Live

Except I've seen numbers that show Obama (if the election were held today) has more electoral votes. Don't buy those tickets just yet!

Bring on the other guy

Its easy, if McCain doesn't show, bring in Bob Barr. He's likely the third most popular option and so far he has gotten no chance to debate either candidate. Obama will get to show his thought process on foreign policy, Barr will suck off some of McCain's support (a la Nader) everyone wins!

The Town Halls again!

Boy McCain just cannot let go of that ten town hall meetings thing. I am hoping at one point someone asks him how presidential it is to hold a grudge when someone doesn't do things exactly the way he wants them to.

@ Filthy Harry

Why not go all the way?

I'm surprised she didn't jsut say that Obama himself was the attacker. He does have a way of making people suspicious:

The Yo-Yo effect

I went from laughing at Sam Bee's hilarious commentary on McCain's air quotes to getting teary eyed reading this story. Boy you ladies at Broadsheet sure know how to put a guy on an emotional rollercoaster!

Left out

I hear it was ineligible for some convoluted reason, but I think "Dear Zachary" deserves an Oscar nom about as much (if not more so) as any doc I've seen in recent years

@ Kitchen Girl

Not to get anal, but while I agree Stefan was raised in Germany (from what he's said). I believe he actually lives and cooks in Santa Monica, CA.

Thank you

That was about 15 times as charming (and enjoyable to read) as the usual caustic slice and dice that Cintra Wilson does.
