Apparently my post earlier in which I said *I can bring myself to ignore … Hillary and all the rest of the shoulder-padded old feminists who long ago should have outlived their anger and done something more constructive than be uptight and vindictive* hit a nerve because it generated put-downs!
The truth be told IMHO is that Hillary did just what a real feminist wouldn’t do, that is rely on being a woman to get her a presidency. Just because she is a woman doesn’t mean that she’s any more qualified to be president than John McCain is because he’s an old man herding dead ideas around the deck of a sinking ship.
Hillary had no new ideas, and in fact miscalculated the whole primary process. She (and Bill) thought by front-loading the California primary and important early primaries in other states she would win by momentum, be coroneted and be swept into power. She and her handlers so mismanaged her campaign that she ended up trying to buy the office with cash from her own coffers! Is this a good administrator?
At my state caucuses some of the Hillaryites were so obnoxious in their support for their candidate (even breaking the rules) that I was way put off. They were loud and devise and shouted down those who disagreed with their agenda. In fact they *were* acting just like shoulder-padded old feminists from thirty or forty years ago who thought burning their bras and screaming at those who disagreed with them might accomplish something.
All of that said I still think that Hillary would make a terrific Supreme Court justice. I believe that the law is where she really stands out, where she could really shine in service to the nation.
When all is said and done, however, I will never be able to forgive her and a slew of her comrades who voted to send our nation to war. That mistake for the sake of convenience disqualifies all of them from ever holding the nation’s highest office. Their judgment is impaired. I don’t care if they are male or female.
I do not know anything about Sarah Palin, and I certainly do not want to disparage her at all. I’m sure she’s a lovely person (except for being under investigation for malfeasance in her home state).
Putting the situation in the abstract, however, I do not want a soccer mom with no national experience, no foreign policy experience, and no experience working with the congress to be one heartbeat away from the presidency of the United States. Is she ready to be Commander-in-chief?
This choice makes it all the more urgent for seventy-two year old John McCain to release all of his health records (and it wouldn’t hurt at this time for a psychiatric evaluation). The old man is obviously bonkers.
One thing I do know for certain is that I do not want Ms. Palin answering the White House telephone at three in the morning.
This episode of “John McCain Runs for the Presidency” is produced and directed by Monty Python.
Two things.
First, I guess this is what parents who deny sex education and contraception think their children deserve. I feel sorry for the young girl, the pointing fingers, sniggering behind her back and everything else that will come her way because of her ignorant and really abusive mother. She’ll be on the cover of every supermarket tabloid and glossy magazine in the nation. She can’t help but be humiliated.
But second, I’m amazed that the rightwing writers on this thread and others would dare to criticize the “liberal bloggers” who they claim are mean spirited, hateful and malicious, and then proceed to cast imprecations. Ladies and Gentlemen of the Far Right! You bought it, you paid for it, and you encouraged it. If the tables were turned Karl Rove would be sending legions of bloggers to the Internet to spin and ruin the people involved. Just look at the past two elections and remember as you sow so shall you reap. You’re the ones who allowed the bar to be lowered into the mud. How does it feel?
