  • If you're concerned, but want another child...

    [Read the article: Ask Pablo]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

While I suggest having as many kids as makes you happy, if you're concerned about it, but want another child, I suggest adoption. If possible, adopt a child with special needs. This is actually a selfish act, in a way, because the fact about happiness and satisfaction that Americans are forgetting is that it comes from giving and sacrificing to others.

    Peace,

  • 1950s housewives...

[Read the article: The sexual politics of household chores]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

    ...existed on TV.

So in recreating June Cleaver's life and comparing it to today's woman's life, you're displaying, uh - nothing.

Believe it or not: Housework and raising kids and taking care of the domestic side of things is (drumroll, please) actual work on parity with a career, and (at least the kids part) far more rewarding in the long run.

    Peace,

  • Spiritual Emptiness

[Read the article: I only feel alive when I'm in danger]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Sounds like you are suffering from spiritual emptiness. Feed your head and exercise your body all you like, but unless your spirit is fed, there's still something missing that no amount of adrenaline will fill. Since your mind and body seem sound, I suggest you look into religion.

  • Empowering Symbol?

[Read the article: That woman is a total space cadet (in a good way)]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I don't think it's empowering for women to climb atop a gigantic phallic symbol that 'blasts' itself into space. For one, the entire space program is a male-dominated field in which men launch (ie: violate) 'virgin' territory. So, women participating (hitching a ride, basically) on this entirely masculine venture, even in the name of empowerment, is pretty condescending.

What women should create is something for men to travel in. It will be a wormhole, similar to the one depicted in 'Stargate.' And then men will enter the wormhole (technically and figuratively placing them in the right context with women) and through the wormhole, men and women will travel to other worlds without violating anything.

    Peace,

  • No excuses

[Read the article: The tragic fall of Eliot Spitzer]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

"Spitzer allegedly used the escort service for at least six months and paid more than $15,000 for numerous meetings, a source familiar with the case told WNBC.com..."

What's so tragic about this? The man exercised poor judgment, committed adultery (numerous times) and got caught. He should apologize and resign.

  • Economic Factors Force Behavior

[Read the article: Who killed public transportation?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Wow - I guess all the public announcements and campaigns about the benefits of public transport have fallen on deaf ears until Americans actually need to use public transport to make ends meet.

Who would have thunk? I thought only poor people ride the bus because they're the only smart people.

  • Didn't you swear that your vote was going to Hillary?

[Read the article: Hillary's race against time]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I could have sworn that's what you wrote in an earlier column. Oh well. What changed your mind? PS - I know you inwardly want to return to Christ. (Which I root for.) Your worldview is amazingly established by him already.

    Peace,

    XY

  • Good Luck!

[Read the article: The K Chronicles]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I can't wait until you start writing about Gravy.

  • Well At Least...

[Read the article: New York Gov. Spitzer resigns]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

...the Governor admitted his failure. To err is human; to forgive is divine. I respect him for that.

  • In Writing, College Degrees and and Talent...

[Read the article: Now that I've got my master's in writing ... I'm not writing!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

...mean very, very little. In fact, they mean nothing. The most important thing for a writer is discipline, followed by hard work, followed by _The Elements of Style,_ followed by education in their market (ie: reading), followed by a writer's group, followed by more discipline and hard work.

    Peace,

  • The Biggest Sin of All...

[Read the article: I don't believe in atheists]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

...is to declare something the truth!

I'm a fundy, Jesus Freak, etc., (and I'm dangerous how...?) but I much prefer a dyed-in-the-wool atheist to someone who is so horrifically castrated and unmanned by postmodern liberalism that he cannot even declare there is truth in the world!

If you believe the facts support atheism, you have an obligation to defend atheism! Those people, I can debate. I can see their point (having been an atheist for over 30 years before I was born again) and I can respect them.

But as for people like Hedges who equate someone declaring a truth to be 'chauvinistic and intolerant,' well, I can only pity them. (Don't fear them, because they're so far out on the fringes of human intellectualism it's not funny.) They are the ones trying to make it seem that there is no truth in the world, and that the biggest sin is declaring that man is capable of discerning right from wrong.

    Peace,

    XY

  • Right On!

[Read the article: Life and death and bicycling]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

With our fuel consumption madness and our obesity epidemic, I pray we can get more Americans on bicycles. It's a beautiful, graceful means of transport.

  • See a Physician - Now!

[Read the article: Nothing makes any sense anymore. I'm at the end of my rope]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

For the love off... What this guy is saying is that behind the facade of normalcy he is devastated. And this letter, by the sound of it, is only allowing us a small peek into this person's shattered internal life.

He is shocked to find that he doesn't need to be on drugs, or socially depraved to find that he ends up in deep existential trouble.

My advice is to see a doctor about this immediately, and expose everything. Beyond that, you should seriously consider spirituality, because it's obvious your soul is starved. My advice would be to turn to Christ (it worked for me!), but on the off-chance of appearing that I'm motivated to convert you for selfish reasons, let me just say your soul is suffering; seek solace where you can, but first...

    Please, go see a doctor.

    Peace,

    KAI
