Unbelief does not motivate people the way belief does.

Quite right.

This is why there seem to be no atheist hate groups at all, whereas the country is loaded with religious hate groups, some of which have publicly vowed to subvert the US Constitution in favor of a religious dictatorship and force conversion under threat of death.

That's what they said, isn't it?

Real patriots, these guys. Such nice people.

I'm not surprised how much you have abandonded your sacred scientific method when it comes to defending your stupid assertion that religion is the cause of human violence and wars.

You're lying again, 'Christian'. I didn't say it was 'the' cause. I inferred that it was a primary motivation.

Again, i ask you "were is your EVIDENCE"?

I showed you plenty of evidence. In True Believer fashion, you ignored it.

You certainly are angry. Maybe you should go pray.

If you are honest with yourself, you may end up having to eat crow, and it never tastes good.

Does it?

Of course history is full of religious wars - that's not the point.

Didn't say it was, did I?

You seem to have missed the point.

Slavery ended because of church activity.

Really? I thought the Civil War was over slavery.

Southern religious institutions defended and promoted slavery for decades, and exhorted Southerners to fight for it.

Slavery is explicitly sanctioned in several places in the bible.

The church at one time was the biggest slaveowner in Europe.

Try again.

I await for your evidence that i am christian.

You defend religion arduously, while avoiding facts and reason in the typical right-wing 'Christian' fashion.

That's plenty.

Next.

You're fact-free again, Sulzer.

Show where I backed down. I did show where you were in error. You didn't like that, did you?

Constants (such as Planck's) are observables in Quantum mechanics since one can devise an experiment to measure them

Then show me an example of an experiment where Planck's constant can be directly observed, or one which does not require measurement that is subject to error.

You can't.

That's why you had to back down. In fact, you backed down in a number of places to others, notably droogoy. Shall I cite examples?

Next.

"We rarely hear from religious believers who accept the standard Darwinian account of evolution."

That's because we don't cause any problems, don't rant on websites, don't burn straw men at the stake, and generally contribute to civilization without kicking up a huge fuss.

To your credit.

Non-believers can genuinely admire Christians who actually emulate Jesus.

It's the ones who emulate Genghis Khan that non-believers have a problem with, particularly when they start targeting non-believers.

walter_map, you are a textbook example of the kind of closed-minded, "true believer", anti-religion fundamentalist who makes it so difficult for all of us reasonable, non-religious, pro-science, open-minded progressives to make headway and find common ground with religious people who are not fundamentalists but do feel that their religion is under assault.

Really? How so? Cite examples.

By the way, I don't believe you're "non-religious". Way too much evidence to the contrary.

And in what way is "religion under assault"? You're perfectly free to practice your religion any way you please, short of human sacrifice. Please, explain yourself.

You certainly are angry. Have atheists been coming to your door, demanding that you give up Jesus or you'll go to hell?

So naturally, organized violence in the past has predominantly been done by people who have either been sincerely or nominally “religious” regardless of the degree to which political, economic, religious or a mix of social factors actually caused the atrocity or incidents within it.

And still are.

You might like to talk to Dubya about that.

God told me to strike at al Qaida and I struck them, and then he instructed me to strike at Saddam, which I did, and now I am determined to solve the problem in the Middle East.

But hey, when you get to claim someone is a christian - a flat out lie- i guess you can also make that pathetic an excuse for an argument in defense of it.

Thus Walter is a liar that will rationalize his lies with atrocious reasoning- all in defense of reason and the higher character of atheists. Hypocrite much?

Your just almost smart enough to be dangerously dumb. Enjoy your ignorance.

I correct myself.

You're definitely religious. But Jesus would have to deny that you're a Christian.

Is that better?

You seemed bright, obviously intelligent, but dishonest to the core. And i guess thats OK.

Personal attacks, false characterizations of peoples arguments, lying, straw men arguments, logical fallacies.....

Is that all you got?
