This could be fun. First we take Mr. Leonard's wealth (retirement plan, real estate, other investments) and distribute the funds to low income individuals living in rural areas. These people have a difficult time paying for fuel, much less affording a hybrid vehicle. Next we could institute a windfall profits tax on the television and movie industries and distribute the money to people living in areas without mass transit so they can purchase more fuel efficient vehicles. Added to that could be a 70% tax on profits of companies selling carbon credits. We could distribute the tax revenues to low and moderate income families whose cost of living has increased with higher energy prices. Better than all these, we could pull a Hugo Chavez and nationalize the oil and gas industry in the U.S. We could hire the experts from PEMEX to come to our country and show us the proper way to operate a national oil company. While you are at it, tell us all how long it will be before alternative energy sources are developed and put into use so that we can end the production of oil and gas.
It is abundantly clear that Obama supporters do not question, or even care, if he is a native born citizen as required by our constitution. Likewise, there are some "birthers" that will never believe he is constitutionally qualified to be president. There are some "birthers" and Obama supporters who would be satisfied that Obama was in fact qualified if a secure copy of his actual long form birth certificate were posted on line. So here is my suggestion: Have Obama travel to the secret location in Hawaii along with Stephen Breyer and Antonin Scalia. Have the state of Hawaii retrieve the actual birth certificate. Have Obama, Breyer and Scalia examine the document. If Obama, Breyer and Scalia are in agreement that the document is actually the original, and that there have been no alterations to the document, have that document scanned on site and posted on the White House web site. The discussion will then be over for all except those who will never believe that Obama was in fact born in Hawaii. The question I would then like for Obama to answer is why he has failed to make a copy of the actual long form birth certificate available. Had a Republican presidential candidate failed to make available his birth certificate when the location of his birth was in question, Democrats would have cried cover up and would have insured that said birth certificate was made available for all to see.
Thanks for pointing out my use of the word "native" born, as opposed to "natural" born, in reference to a citizen's qualifications to serve as president of the United States as spelled out in our constitution. I can only assume that you are not a "birther" so you must not be stupid. I'm not sure what you are. Perhaps you could explain the difference in stupid and dumb. I do find it comical that you choose to create reasons why it would be inadvisable to involve parties in the review of a birth certificate that would have conflicting loyalties (liberal justice and conservative justice of the Supreme Court) and thus provide balance. At least you did not resort to the argument that it does not matter whether or not our president is natural(native) born. Surely you would agree that the constitution has definite qualifications to be president. I do find it discouraging that most comments to this article refuse to consider that Obama might consider being a little more transparent. I'm still scratching my head trying to figure out what you mean by saying, "It's one think to be batshit crazy". Does one "think" to be batshit crazy, or did you stupidly misspell thing.
Are all presidential candidates vetted by the CIA, FBI and DOJ? If so, what does "vetting" process involve? I have never heard that any president is actually given any security clearance other than by being elected. Please furnish the basis for the statement you have made. Certainly Obama was not vetted by the adoring press. Otherwise we would know more about him than we do. Obama critics are saying they do not trust Obama.
I never mentioned the "Kenyan birth" theory. So no need to wow me with you pomposity and self-attributed intelligence by calling other people stupid. Nor did I need an explanation of native v. natural born. I merely said I used the wrong word. No need for more condescending explanations. I am one that expects Obama was born in Hawaii. What bothers me is his unwillingness to furnish a copy of the actual birth certificate and resolve the question. This is really quite simple and does not require much effort at all. Yes there will be those who will never believe Obama was born in Hawaii. In the same way, there will always be the Obama defenders, such as yourself, that will defend everything he says and does. We all have the right to take either, or neither, point of view. Surely in your infinite wisdom you understand exactly what the request is and what providing a copy of the birth certificate would accomplish. The most effective way this entire issue could be resolved is in federal court. But that will never be allowed because no one, no US citizen, has standing to compel Obama to produce his birth certificate. By the way, I think you are wrong in your conclusion that Obama would still be a natural born citizen even if he was born outside the United States.
It would be interesting to know just what is on that birth certificate that Obama does not want to be made public. If there is no damaging information, a reasonable person must ask why Obama has gone to such lengths to keep the birth certificate private. Same for his college and law school records. John Kerry must have been his advisor.
