  • Use me, Big Pharma!

[Read the article: The end of menstruation]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

It's ridiculous to hate/fear something as a reflex against Big Pharma. Use that brain, for goodness sake. Not everything is great, not everything is bad and generally nothing is perfect.

I heartily join the chorus of those who say, get rid of periods if you can do it safely and effectively. Therein may be the rub, but it's still worth the effort.

My periods were always a major drag and, through the miracle of modern surgery (otherwise I'd be dead), I am past my period days.

What a relief! I never realized how much effort I had to put into them, even when I was on the Pill (which at least made them mercifully predictable).

The beauty of a pill/shot/whatever is that you can take it or not. That's what's great about it. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend effective products for getting rid of the period to my daughter.

  • Maybe you're in the wrong field ... or... maybe you'll get over the hump

[Read the article: I think I'm addicted to quitting my job!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I used to quit jobs every year, jobs I did well but didn't like for various reasons. These were not even close to the right jobs for me and I knew it.

I changed fields and got a job I really liked and the years flew by. Now, in the grand scheme of things, the work I was doing wasn't really my life's dream either, but it was tolerable enough to do day in and day out.

I had some of those same feelings of screwing up large and small and that people were disappointed in me and that maybe I should move on. But I always got over the hump.

If the job is tolerable, make yourself stay for a while and see if the feeling passes. If it doesn't, maybe you should consider changing fields.

If you think you really like getting attention, maybe you should try volunteer work that could give you a higher profile. Good organizations are very rah-rah about their volunteers, you meet new people and you get a lot of positive feedback and good feelings from helping others.

  • This is ridiculous-- You call this coverage?

[Read the article: Super Tuesday results]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

How hard would it have been to include Ron Paul's results? Whether you like him or not, he's a legitimate candidate with more money in the bank than Huckabee and likely more individual contributors than either of the "frontrunners."

It's difficult to take any of your campaign coverage seriously when you don't actually cover the campaigns.

  • Thanks for protecting us, Mein Fuhrer!

[Read the article: Fun and games with terrorist threats]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

On top of everything other bit of nonsense, all these references to the "Homeland" make me sick.

Why is "Homeland" figured to be more emotion-laden than "our country" and "The United States"?

  • That would be one interesting conversation

[Read the article: What do young men mean when they say, "Let's hang out"?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

And I do mean "one" because most people would not want to hang out with LW after trying Cary's advice. Problem solved!

Good Lord, woman. Why take yourself so seriously? Why not just hang out and see what happens? If a guy makes a move on you, well, tell him you're not interested in him that way. If "hanging out" only means he wants to have sex with you, and you don't have sex with him, and he takes off, well, he's not your friend. Case closed.

Maybe you will find yourself interested in romance. Why shut the door so absolutely to that? It's one thing to not be devoting every waking hour to looking for love, it's another to close the door to the idea.

Just lighten up for goodness sake.

  • Deceptive? Why not use the word fraud?

[Read the article: Hey, skinny bitch!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

If a store advertises one product but substitutes it for something else, it commits the fraud of bait and switch.

    A crime.

At the very least, these authors are dishonest and not to be trusted.

At the worst, they are confessed criminals.

  • Why are we so afraid of terrorists?

[Read the article: Amnesty Day for Bush and lawbreaking telecoms]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Why are we running like scared little sheep from the possibility of terrorism? Yes, the 9/11 attacks were bold and horrific, but the money being spent to defend ourselves and the even greater cost to our nation is far beyond the damage inflicted.

The United States has suffered a number of terrorist incidents over the years without destroying the Republic.

Terrorists succeed not because of their ability to hurt us but because of our over-reaction to it.

The American people are stronger than that and our government should reflect that strength instead of pandering to our deepest fears.

  • Americans are running scared

[Read the article: McCain apes Bush on Iraq, as Dems stand passively by]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

If John McCain continues to play up the "Aaaah! We're All About to Die" card and the Democrats concede that to him, he has a good shot at winning.

Americans have proven that when those in government say that we have to protect ourselves at all costs, from threats real, possible and imagined, Americans will roll over like little puppy dogs.

Only Mr. Obama has the credibility to say get a grip, but if he does so, Mr. McCain et al will scream bloody murder (quite literally) and Mr. Obama and the Democratic will have to be stronger than they have any likelihood of being to withstand that.

    Good luck, America.
