  • Mr. Tennis is right! Plus, always take the high road

[Read the article: My partner is being stalked by a trolling MILF]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

In his impish way, Mr. Tennis is absolutely right. LW's problem is entirely with her partner. And, truth be told, there may be a bit more to this situation than she'd like to think.

A little clue is in there: "He's since become uncomfortable with her, mostly since our relationship became committed and the MILF began referring to me as her 'competition.'"

So, partner had a little flirtation (at least) going on there. This didn't just come out of nowhere. That doesn't mean that MILF isn't getting carried away, but let's tell it like it is.

The main thing is that this isn't LW's fight. Certainly it feels as though it is, but it isn't. It is with the partner and his respect for LW. He needs to handle this or it's trouble.

Better to not respond to emails or phone calls. If LW meets the MILF on the street, she should be moderately polite.

Believe me, feeling secure in your relationship is the best way to handle anyone who has an interest in your partner.

LW, retain your dignity and you will come out ahead in the long run.

BTW, I've seen plenty of women get kicked to the curb when they became hysterical and abusive about another woman's flirtation. A woman crazy with jealousy isn't fun to live with, especially when there's someone "fun" ready, willing and able.

  • A challenge to Salon readers

[Read the article: Lawbreaking telecoms still conniving to obtain immunity from Congress]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

For those in states where presidential candidates are campaigning, go to a rally and do your best to ask where the candidate stands on telecom immunity.

Write to your candidates (they all have websites) and request their positions on telecom immunity.

Their answers will tell you what you need to know to predict their behavior in office.

Once again, I think you will find that the "major" candidates worm their way out of a straight answer. The only 2 contenders I know who'll give you a straight answer (and that would be "hell no")are Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich.

But, oh yeah, they're "not viable."

  • Read this book: A Housekeeper Is Cheaper than a Divorce

[Read the article: Our house is so messy my husband's threatening to leave]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

All the problems you mention with regard to a clean house are kind of chicken and egg. You won't have the answers until your house is clean.

I'm a slob too, as is my entire family, and I hate that. But I hate housework. Now I hire help and wish I'd done it years ago.

If nothing else, you'll enjoy a clean house and your life will be easier (even if your husband moves back upstairs). Clutter and guilt over clutter weighs you down and makes you miserable. Or more miserable anyway.

Read this book and it will tell you all you need to know about squeezing the money out of your budget and handling a housekeeper.

  • Was Huckabee's desire for a theocracy a secret?

    [Read the article: Holy Constitution!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

If the press had stopped licking Mr. Huckabee's rear for a few minutes, they might have noticed that if you listen closely, you could substitute the word "Allah" for "God" and all those evangelicals would be screaming for Mr. Huckabee's one-way ticket to Gitmo.

Ever since Mr. Huckabee's jolly rise to national attention on The Daily Show, I've been telling everybody who will stand still for 10 seconds that I don't want to live in Mr. Huckabee's theocracy. (Of course, once his vision reached its full-flower of Talibanism, then I probably wouldn't be living, if you catch my drift.)

Guess you must have crossed the street when you saw me coming.

  • Get some clarity about this!

[Read the article: My alcoholic father has a child we never knew about]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

LW should not pursue contact with this long-lost sibling; it should entirely be the sibling's choice.

LW can find ways to be known through Internet registries and so forth, maybe even find out if there are people in the extended family who can reach out to the mother.

But the fact is that LW doesn't know what the sibling knows. The mother asked the father to sever all ties. That's likely to mean that she didn't want anything further to do with him. She may never have told the child anything; she may have told the child all kinds of things, true and untrue.

I know several families with ugly breakups that didn't even involve alcoholism and the mothers so poisoned the children against the father that they would never be receptive to having some sibling they'd never heard of come out of the woodwork.

Make yourself as "findable" as possible and then move on. You've got a lot of other things to work on.

  • Good for you, King!

[Read the article: King Kaufman's Sports Daily]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

You are absolutely and positively right! And, while any ingested substance has risks and benefits, some if not much of the problems associated with steroids and other banned substances comes by virtue of the ban itself.

The reason you don't hear a lot about problems with Lasik and cortisone is that they are administered properly, not in on the sly in some shady backroom 'roid parlor.

    Let's get real about this.

  • Freedom is the hardest idea of all

[Read the article: Mukasey's radical worldview is now the norm]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

While I generally applaud Mr. Olbermann's statement, even he seems to fail to grasp the concept of freedom from unwarranted government surveillance.

He says: "Use Room 641-A to identify that E–assassin, sir, and I’ll stand up and applaud you."

Why? Why would he do that? Is it OK for the government to retain all of our personal messages so that we can find out who said something mean about Barack Obama?

Bad government is fine if it's used for good?

The road to hell is paved with good intentions, sir.
