What about Dem calls for Vitter's resignation?
[Read the article: Forcing Larry Craig's resignation while embracing David Vitter]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Here's what's missing from this debate: Sure, Republicans have an incentive to leave Vitter alone, and they are acting hypocritically in doing so. BUT WHAT ABOUT THE DEMOCRATS??? What is stopping Democratic Senators and Representatives, as well as party officials such as Howard Dean, from spotlighting Vitter's misconduct (as well as the Republicans' double-standard with respect to Vitter and Craig) -- and calling on Vitter to resign? I do not understand why the Dems let the ruthless Rethugs off so lightly. I believe it was James Carville who famously said, "When your opponent's drowning, throw him an anvil." This kind of milquetoast behavior is a prescription for failure.

Right on.
[Read the article: The harmony between the Right and the media]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Glenn, I was at your book-signing presentation last night and really enjoyed your talk. Your post today is spot on. Please keep mining this topic -- and trying to interest other progressives in taking it up as well.

Chomsky
[Read the article: The harmony between the Right and the media]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]#
Noam Chomsky was right
"Noam Chomsky got it right about our corporate media a long time ago. Paraphrasing his remarks, he said that no journalist that works for these big media companies ever gets told what to report or not report. They are never told you can't report that story. The genius of these institutions is that people who would report stories that management wouldn't like, never get hired.

Yes, indeed. Read this book; it's essential background for understanding the issue that Glenn is currently analyzing, both in his blog and in his newly-released book:
"Manufacturing Consent: The Political Economy of the Mass Media" by Edward Herman and Noam Chomsky

Good work.
[Read the article: Brian Williams' "response" to the military analyst story]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Keep kicking ass, Glenn. This is important, meaningful journalism that you're doing, and it's appreciated by those of us who worry about the impact of the right-leaning corporate mass media on what's left of our democracy.

Quick, more OxyContin!

Ignore him.
[Read the article: Tom Friedman's latest declaration of war]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Glenn, Friedman's a buffoon, not worth your time and effort.

B.S.
[Read the article: Maps show Clinton better against McCain than Obama]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]More head-faking tripe from the clown known by Dumbya as Turd Blossom. The curtain's been pulled back on this jerk, and he's mortal like the rest of us. Except that he has no ethics, conscience, or principles.

Classless Thugs
[Read the article: Fox News responds]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I'm waiting for Fox to incorporate that new Obama "monkey doll" into their logo. Nothing is beneath them in their never-ending quest to carry water for the extreme Right Wing and their Overlord, Rudolph Murdoch.

More Mafia Politics from the GOP
[Read the article: Republican Jewish group conducted anti-Obama poll]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]This is yet more evidence that the only way Republicans can "win" is to destroy the opposition with dirty tricks, smears, lies, and the worst sort of ugly tactics. Exhibit A is Karl Rove. Exhibit B: Lee Atwater. Now the tactics pioneered and perfected by those two cynical operators are being deployed and taken to new lows by John McCain's desperate, hollow campaign. This operation, being run by a "Jewish group" bankrolled by the Rethuglicans, is part of that party's multi-faceted plan to win by intimidation and the politics of personal destruction. Vote for Barack Obama and Joe Biden and let's show the world that decency and honesty DO have a place in American politics.
