The virginity cult is all about control. A lot of men, (I used to be one and I'll admit it) are afraid of women's sexuality. A woman can go out and find a sexual partner any day of the week. Men, unless they are very powerful and accomplished, will never have the same kind of power - to pick and choose sexual partners. We can see this in full effect in our modern lives. Tracey Egan at Jezebel.com made a full blown social career of it; supposedly only stopping now she is engaged. I know very few straight men who could put those kind of numbers. And they are all men with some kind of power and social currency.

There are other aspects to this - including the need to ensure the integrity of someone's familial line, etc; but those hold less weight today.

Her hubby was being vindictive. In his mind she was a cheating lying slut. So he decided to give her and her family a big old "fuck you".

Regardless of how distasteful this is, he has a right to not be married to a woman if she does not fit his ideal. You might not agree, but no one forced this woman into a relationship with a guy she was not compatible with. He has a right to marry and be with someone who fits his needs and standards.

It is about control.... especially if you are a guy who cannot go out and get laid on demand and are scared shitless of all the horny volunteers who will help willing females get sex - if they want it. I stand by this statement - most women can get sex when they want.

And brightstar, even the village ho can say no. On the other hand, most guys I have met are quite happy to have NSA sex.

Social Training has nothing to do with this. Even with all the game in the world, a man has to woo. A woman, can tell a certain kind of a guy, "let's go" and it's done. I should know... in certain circumstances, I have been that guy.

I don't respect virginity. My dick is not a battering ram and it was something that was a burden for me in high school. A straight guy who is willingly a virgin past his late teens is either repressed or gay... and I know that is blanket statement but that's what I have observed in the wild.

Pray tell me how a rockstar - who can pick and choose groupies any day of the week - is working for women or the "common good" ?

Gay people don't deal with this shit. It appears (from conversations with gay acquaintances and room mates) that negotiating sex for gay men is easy - with none of the jumping through hoops/social cachet that women in their 20s demand.

I can't speak for all straight men but I learned after high school that "nice guy" was code for - "unattractive, unassertive and unfuckable".

And despite the fact that I was a geek, I wanted to get fucked. So I decided to apply myself. I learned to tap into my more aggressive side in a controlled manner. You learn to discount much of what women say, focus on what they do and what guys who are successful with them do.

On the innocent end of the spectrum you learn to be mysterious and play up your strengths; whatever those may be. On the more mercenary end, you take a by any means necessary approach (and I am not talking about date rape or anything like that before people jump down my throat) and learn to play the game.

Sometimes success means casting a wide net - and focusing on a variety of demographics - older women, black women, foreign women - etc.

Dating Darwinism is just a way for guys to regain control. Surely you can see that in terms of casual dating, women hold a lot of the cards. Including the biggest one - access to sex.

Riiight.... because I have worked so hard and focused so much on career and success to date a fat girl with a great personality.
