This is Nader's Nadir.
I have to wonder how respectful and decorous these mofos were toward then-actual Vice President Al Gore when he was running for President. I sure hope that they weren't dissing him and undermining the status quo! 8^O
I'm not trying to minimize the distractive quality of your neighbor's whooping, but you might consider the possibility that he has Tourette Syndrome. This neurological disorder causes a person to have physical and vocal tics that they simply can't control any more than one could hold back a sneeze. My daughter has this and for almost the entire year of first grade would yell out loudly every ten seconds or so. And I do mean "loudly." It certainly did drive everyone to distraction, no doubts about that.
But if (if!) your neighbor has this problem and doesn't know it, then you might show some compassion and patience.
Rivkin belittled you and the Obama WH for being soft on national security. Well, if the U.S. is supposed to be the "world police" providing security everywhere, then I pose this simple question for him and his:
Would you rather have a cop on your beat that respects and serves under the constraints of law, or would you rather have a cop on your beat that keeps everyone in line through bullying and intimidation and extortion?
Wingnut says, "I have yet to see a convincing argument that the effort to force gay marriage on the nation is effectively divorced from the effort to force people to change their views on homosexuality."
Well, I have seen no convincing argument to suggest that Wingnut has actually given this issue any thought beyond his own gut-reactions. Let's see:
Uhh, how about the argument that we should recognize their right to file married/joint on their tax return?
How about the argument in support of accepting their right to declare their survivors for social security purposes?
How about the argument acknowledging their right to visit each other and to make health care decisions in the event of a medical catastrophe? (Oh, yeah, I forgot: Terry Schiavo's husband wasn't supposed to have that authority, so why should other spouses?)
How about the argument recognizing that children raised in a G/L family unit have a solid connection with both parents, regardless of genetics, so that they are not sundered in the event of a death or divorce?
Just a few "convincing arguments" that come to mind without too much effort...
What gets me is that these protesters aren't even 1/100,000th of the number of protesters that hit the streets back in 2002 and 2003 to vocally challenged the impending war in Iraq back in 2002 and 2003. Yet, they get all of this coverage. Yes, I know, it's because the MSM directs the narrative, but it still sticks in my craw.
Hey, I can't lend -- or even give -- Kindle books to someone when done with them!? In reality, you aren't buying the books from Amazon, just buying an individualized license to read them. That, to me, is a deal breaker.
They should have followed Dennis Kucinich's lead and simply called their plan "Medicare for All." Would have clarified much, and would have completely sidestepped the misguided worries that Medicare would be terminated.
... suits him well.
Please name names. Who needs to be called/emailed/faxed?
If 43 votes is not enough to carry a bill, it should also be noted that if 43 Dems refuse to sign a bill (and presumably nearly all Repubs would do so), then the bill will not pass.
