Sorry Maureen, reading is fundamentalist. Try ritalin if you feel your attention span is too short. Kiss-noise.

Original article: The problem with cheap oil

OPEC states have to create hundreds of millions of jobs soon

After several decades of living fat off the land of oil, most OPEC states are creaky inefficient social welfare states where few people are gainfully employed, they are socially repressive, radically politicized and have very high population growth rates. For example, only about 2.9 Saudis actually have what you would call a real job. Most live off the state or have state no-show jobs. To say nothing of excluding have the adult population from driving, going to school etc.

Worrying about the social unrest that will occur because prices are LOW is stupid. They just came off a long period of HIGH prices and they've never been LESS stable. And they should be confronted with the very real possibility of having to create or build or educate something - instead of pumping money out of the ground. They should probably think about diversifying their economies before the oil runs out and millions of pissed off Arabs boil out into the streets and lynch all the sheiks, emirs, princes, wazoos and such. Or not. I can't say there's a downside either way.

Even Palin could go to charm school in 4 years

With a concerted effort and 4 years of intense study even trailer bride Sarah could become more informed and mediagenic. Don't be too sure she isn't their Frankenwhore project 2012.

What are the specific impeachable offences he's being charged with that will stick

I'd like to know at what point impeachment relied only on the accusation of a criminal offense and what charges specifically apply in this case?

Guilt by accusation

They're dancing in the conference room at Salon. Soviet style justice comes to America.

It means nothing for democracy

Americans don't have that. They have the patrician political aristocracy the founders intended. At least at the Federal level. Salon ignores state politics though. Which doesn't support this thesis.

Original article: Ask the pilot

Look no one cares

A few man bites dog stories about Muslims being kicked off a plane. Ok, it's a warcrime. The end of civilization as we know it. But thank Marx-Lenin, that the airlines do such a horrible job being a business that soon enough they will all of them collapse. Everyone is put out by the airlines, the airports, the mouthbreathers in the TSA, the cashier clerks who charge $8 for a water bottle, can't make change or speak English and all the rest. Every part of it sucks. Every painful aspect. It's a bus. A shitty, late, overpriced bus. Driven by monkeys. Administered by fat assed retard rednecks with guns. And its lumbering days are numbered. I already can't get from 'here' to 'there' directly without going a thousand miles in the wrong direction first and for 5 hours wait. I already get fondled and felt up. So sit down, shut up and put up with it. There will be a 3/4ths reduction in all air travel in the US soon unless you have to go to one the 20 cities they will still fly to, when they fly to them for whatever they happen to charge.

You overstate the downside

If the OPEC states collapse and splash around in the slaughterhouse drain for a while, so what? They will pump whatever they are capable of pumping until there's nothing left. If that means those countries revert to cannibalism, anarchy and Mad Max car chases, ok.

None of those countries did much for themselves in the long run when prices were obscenely high. They didn't create jobs or industries or educate people. They bought weapons and personal 767 jets, refrigerated beaches, 7 star hotels, indoor ski mountains in the desert, more weapons, weapons grade plutonium, terrorist armies and sportscars. They're like the bad guys in a James Bond movie.

Now prices are low. I guess they won't be able to afford a lightsaber to chop off the hands and heads of adulterers in the town square anymore. They'll have to use old school scimitars. Boo friggin hoo.

Even al Arabiya notes a wave of antisemitic violence sweeping the world

But thank god Salon and Glenn Greenwald heroically carry the banner for ignoring that. It's something that is "virtually never heard in our political establishment (here).

This is Salon: Moyers is obviously an Israeli plant

There is no such thing as antisemitic violence in the world according the Glenn. No such animal. The only question I have is, if there was no holocaust, they why do you guys think Hitler was a such a hero?
