@curse10 and carolyn c - Cornyn's story is a lie

Because the administration could have implemented a wiretap without a warrant from the FISA court and then get a warrant within 72 hours.

Why are we ruled by these filthy liars? It's in your bible - "thou shalt not bear false witness". And they wrap themselves in unction and call themselves Christians. (also in the bible - "thou shalt not take the Lord's name in vain" - if you falsely take on Christ's mantle, are you not so doing?)

Pharisees. Sadducees. Hypocrites. Thieves.

@aycharaych - The "war on Drugs"

equals a war on a convenient segment of the population. DFH's, Blacks, (all brown people, for that matter), artists, non-conformists, eccentrics of all kinds, sick people for whom medicine = something from nature rather than a chemical expensive pill from corporatist drug pushers, and so on.

The authoritarian mind cannot tolerate the idea that someone somewhere is having fun. Experiencing joy in a way he cannot experience or understand.

Stamp it out, crush it, make the different ones conform!

Fuck the fascists and the narrow destructive world they love. They worship death, they see the earth as a source of loot, they exploit all they can and demonize those they can't exploit. (admittedly sophomoric, but it sure seems true to this old boy).

These fuckers are always finding some new "war" to inflict on the body politic. And they don't even have to make sense. War on terror? WTF?

Time to get yer war on greedy fucking corporatist bastards. Send a few Telco presidents to jail in irons and see how soon they toe the line. Send Bush and company to the green zone forever. Or until Iraq is a functioning democracy, whichever comes first.

Chris Dodd OK!!!!! Give the man some love........

Bravo, Mostly Anonymous Collective Brain!

It's nice to win one - and more than a little weird to participate in a public forum, disembodied, and anonymous (well, probably not to anyone who really wants to find out, but mostly!). And then to take individual action, identified.

Thankfully we have C-Span and can watch the smarmy Mr. Reid do the bidding of his corporatist masters. I'm sorry I couldn't see his face when he pulled the bill.

Very positive and entertaining group! Thank you, Mr. Greenwald, for your hard work in this regard. I have been reading your blog for a couple of years, and am delighted you now have a paying gig, and don't have to beg.

The "don't send that memo" discipline is pretty much absent around here in blog-land, so there's pretty much a permanent record of all your passionate typewriter spray - I guess that's not all bad.

My cat's singing on top of the stepladder.......bye!

Sorry about the multiple multiple multiple posts

The Comments section is loading really slowly, (Denial of service attack? Paranoia? Anyone else having problems?) and my connection keeps timing out.

Here's a pome:

Books should to one of these ends conduce:

For wisdom, piety, delight, or use.

Traitorous scum

Yup. To his country, his party, and the people who supported him for years. He wouldn't still be a senator except for the Republicans who voted for him in 06.

You're too polite about this quisling, Glenn.

All Innovation is from the fringe

Outsiders do what insiders are too conformist to consider - think new thoughts, act in new ways, create new worlds.

It's a recurring dynamic. And as more and more are outside the machine, the armored Hummer stealing from the future and shitting death, the greater the threat to those inside the machine.

We are at the early stage of a war. A war to redeem and protect. And the only weapon is our bodies.

Juice it up! Bump it around! Holler and hoot! Yee hah!

Smile! It's the Solstice!

Dance out the shortest day and dance in the sun!

Christ's nativity festival is of rebirth, joy, love and hope.

Hark, too much snark......

Hark the herald, angels sing.......

Hug it up, Leaping gnome kind spirits.
