Thanks for reading and watching all the MSM crap, Glenn

...because it would make my head explode. TV is the most subtle and insidious instrument of mind control. And my consciousness is too dispersed when I'm winding down to catch and destroy the subliminals. SO, Bravo, good sir, and thank you (a million times) for standing up and making the thoughtful defense. And defense it is - because the juggernaut is offensive on many levels. Will it go away if it is ignored? I think not.......

Chris Dodd's office was giddy

with the calls and money they got:

for taking a stand against money control;

only a whore can be bought.

Two heads of the same Beast

Republicans are just more honest, not having to pay lip service to egalitarianism.

The tories have waged a successful counter-revolution, and are now firmly back in charge. The revolutionaries who risked all for honor and freedom are just historic footnotes, their blood wasted to form a Republic which has been hijacked by greed and corruption.

Why would Harry Reid bite the hand of his corporate paymasters?

Biologically speaking, "Habit" refers to sexual behavior

And Larry Craig appears to be a creature of habit, indeed!

It is a sad characteristic of the idealogy of the right in America that its tenets are so limiting that even its most dyed in the wool leaders have to lie habitually. My question is this - isn't lying as bad a sin as adultery or murder? I mean, it falls right in between them in the 10 commandments. Or does "thou shalt not bear false witness" have some other meaning if you're Republican?

How about some honesty? How about not lying all the fucking time? How about showing some courage and leadership and actually helping people rather than demeaning yourself, selling yourself out, to maintain a false image in pursuit of power and money and the approval of the deliberately, willfully, ignorant?

Honor is in Short Supply

When Generals, who you would think subscribe to the military code of honor, lie habitually to support the Republican political agenda, what does this do to the military? Corruption flows from the top down - dishonorable men dishonor not only themselves, but also all those who look to them for leadership.

The depredations of these criminal scum who are running the country are greater and more subtle than simple theft - they are actually destroying the fabric of the country, the trust between people that is a necessary underpinning to a healthy society. Where deception rules, where neighbor distrusts neighbor, where the law is an instrument of power wielded unjustly, there is a country in decline.

I weep for our once great Republic.

Original article: Who needs a Prius anyway?

Cheaper Alternatives?

I bought a 97 Toyota Tercel with 100k miles. Over 40 mpg average, with that little 1.5 litre engine. $2000, very reliable, parts easy to find, and they've been around for a while so most mechanics know how to fix them.

This is my daily beater when I don't need the capacity of my pickup. (Incidentally, IMHO, the pickup truck is the apex of American automotive engineering - good tools, strong, reliable, very low maintenance costs, and just keep on running. They do burn gas, though.) Why can't the big 3 build a Ranger or S10 sized pickup with a small diesel (say, 2 litres)?

In the meantime, why buy new? $25k out the door is a lot to spend for an unproven technology (hybrid)- and these vehicles have a lot more parts to go wrong than a traditional car, not least of which is the battery, which has an expected life of 7 years and a $5k plus replacement cost.

Original article: Col. Boylan's denial

Military Code of Honor?

I admit to holding on to a belief in a military code of honor. And I don't think I'm alone - why else would the "administration" trot out magnificently uniformed military men whenever it needed authoritative credibility? (Colin Powell's disgraceful performance at the UN springs to mind). However, I am beginning to wonder if the US military has been corrupted by the same movement that has infected the political life of our once-great Republic: the neo-fascist idealogs who lie, cheat and steal because the ends justify the means. (and after all, armageddon will clean up everything, including our enemies, especially since we are hastening its arrival).

This man Boylan, like the rest of his ilk, is a mediocraty. And the hallmark of the mediocre and incompetent is that they lie to cover up their mediocracy and incompetence.

Go get him, Glenn! We can only purge these scum one at a time.

And Harry Reid will wring his hands and bleat

Obama's Bad Judgement - Social Security is in OK Shape

Obama appears to have picked Social Security as his "key issue". But the Social Security trust fund, even under the most conservative assumptions, and existing contribution and benefit levels, does not require reducing benefits until 2044, and even then can continue paying benefits at 70% of existing levels.

It's Medicare that is within 3 or 4 years of complete insolvency.

Just on this basis, Obama has demonstrated very questionable fiscal and political judgment. I seriously doubt if he is presidential material. I mean, who was the last guy who made Social Security a "key issue"? And I can't imagine anyone less presidential than that incompetent lying thief.

Original article: A muted response from Bush

How Much Influence does Bush Have? SFA, nil, zip, nada, etc.

One consequence of Bushco's retarded, violent, failure of a foreign policy - NO influence over either friend or foe. And why should anyone do what our incompetent ignorant "administration" says? They have proven time and time again that the consequences of loyally toeing the line are betrayal as soon as the going gets tough (Kurds, Turkey, eg. How about Tony Blair's one-way relationship?), and that we can be given the one-fingered salute with impunity (Israel, Venezuela).

It will take decades to repair the damage done by these fucking pinheads. The world is laughing. Bush is a joke.
