Original article: The oversight joke

They Lack Respect for Anything other than Power and Money

Including the rule of law and the American people.

Including foreigners, especially those who talk or dress funny.

Their brainwashed followers don't even respect themselves.

And President McCain is of the same contemptuous mindset.

Contemptible. We have met the enemy and he is us. At least, enough of us to totally fuck up the country.

The Boys who Cried Wolf

This may be one time they weren't fucking lying....

Off with their heads! At least, let them lose all their ill-gotten gains, and send the fraudsters to jail. Start with Fuld (ex-CEO of ex-Lehman), whose $22 million bonus was based entirely on fake financial results and fraudulent asset valuations.

The corrupt rotten oligarchs need to be humbled, and humbled big.

Inflation is the Implied "Solution"

It's coming - anyone who has the ability to add value will be all right, but the non-productive will suffer.

Not all bad. But say farewell to the penny, and get used to $5 - maybe $10 a gallon gas.

Go local, go cash. And batten down the hatches. It's getting interesting.

(of course, we could end up with a militarised police state in a perpetual "war on someone real bad" - but this is different to what we now have how?)

For all their chest-beating attestations of "Christianity"

Neo-cons look pretty evil to me. Look at Bachmann's eyes in the interview with Chris Matthews - is she a demon?

If there is a hell, a whole lot of these scum are going there......they'll feel right at home, since that's all they aspire to turn the earth into.

Screening at Rallies GUARANTEES rabid behavior

I think filming the mouth-breathers at Republican rallies ranting and raving and implying group violence against the "Muslims" (or "commies" or "america-haters" or whatever focus these inadequate people need for their hatred) is the best way to demonstrate the true nature of the neo-con movement: a cynical, lying, arrogant, greedy, power-abusing leadership and a manipulated, self-hating, unhealthy, authoritarian "followship".

So more screening by coopted police - keep any sane thoughtful people away from Republican rallies! Let the crazy bastards loose in all their brown-shirted glory.

@behind the curtain - Police State, eh? Quit buying their crap

Government really does exist with the consent of the governed. I say opt out of as much of their world as possible.

-Cancel your cable and quit watching their lies

-Walk or bike and quit buying their gas

-get by with as little money as possible and quit paying your taxes to the war machine (I paid no fed income tax last year- the hard way! (no income))

-Work for what you need and want - and don't borrow yourself into indentured servitude.

-make your own stuff, or trade with people you know who make stuff you need. Quit buying their slave-labor crap.

-grow your own food, or buy food from people you know who grow it. Quit paying into their corporate frankenfood machine.

-be upright and self-loving. Quit letting them tell you you are inadequate to sell you their chemical potions.

-starve the beast. kill the corruption by opting out. Let the greedy fat pig people eat each other.

-Love your Mother. Quit buying their vengeful Godtalk.

The hippies were right! The last 35 years or so were devoted by the right to putting the genie back in the bottle. The genie's still here, and getting stronger. Feed the genie!

Militarism: As American as Apple Pie

As an immigrant, I'm frequently bemused by the jingoistic militarism of American society. This is something that is drilled into children from a young age and reinforced at all levels of society. College football, for example, is an orgy of romanesque war games. Tommy Trojan, our hero! Militarism is also reinforced and sold through corporatist propaganda, such as Fox "News".

Who benefits? A huge, obscenely costly, military establishment. WHere else can a person of fairly average intellect get a free ride through college, a salary free of layoff risk, excellent benefits, housing, and be able to retire with a full pension in their mid-forties?

And the military embodies all the most wasteful elements of American technological society: consuming the most fuel of any organization in the world; totally authoritarian and intolerant of dissent; unaccountable (the comptroller general notes over one TRILLION dollars of expenditures which the military cannot account for! Imagine this conversation: Auditor: what was this trillion dollars spent on?" Military accountant: "I don't know."); and worst - like the corrupt politicians and boot-lickers feeding at the trough, the military is duplicitous as a matter of habit. Consider Colin Powell's masterwork of lies at the UN in 2003. Or the lies coming out if Iraq and Afghanistan ("the surge is working"; "we're building no permanent bases in Iraq").

And the power of the military results precisely in the syndrome Glenn noted in his column: constantly seeking enemies to bomb. I mean, we can't be spending all this money on just a useless parasitic organization - we need them to protect the homeland from the bad guys who would harm us!

I am more than a little concerned that we have a military government in all but name. It's tentacles spread throughout the country, so that significant chunks of the population are dependent on military and military supplier payroll. How on earth can we cut this dangerous, out-of-control organization down to size? This is one of the biggest problems facing America - military spending is essentially non-productive. It is pure consumption. If too much of your population is not making anything, just consuming and destroying, it will destroy your economy. Especially if it is funded with borrowed money and looted Social Security funds.

Marry this with eight years of an "administration" headed by a man who has never created wealth in his life. All he knows how to do is rob and wreck. Perfect military puppet! Robbing and wrecking R us!

Are Americans really this fucking dumb?
