This level of corruption could never have happened without the groundwork of general decay in American society. The social problems of alienation, irresponsibility, greed, sloth, and gluttony have been encouraged by the Corporate oligarchy, because they know a weakened, divided, dependent society is easier to control and exploit.

And all it takes to kill the bad guys is to refuse to participate. Or at least minimize your participation. (e.g. quit watching TV, buy local stuff, walk rather than drive, create real community).

It may however be too late to defeat the corporate/military/police junta which controls the federal government.

Simple solution: quit being a captive slave to consumer society. ( = perpetual war society, since war is pure consumption).

Be a patron or matron of the arts instead. Maybe one small step towards a society which feeds rather than starves its artists.

I saw a couple of interesting things on the road recently:

1) A US Forest Service Truck (green, suburban, 4wd) labeled in big letters on the back door: "LAW ENFORCEMENT";

2) A Dept of Veterans' Affairs van, labeled in big letters on the back door "POLICE".

This struck me as strange and disturbing. Is every arm of the Federal Government now an arm of the federal police? What kind of state have we become, exactly?

I mean "become" - because we're already there. They are just picking on marginalized elements now - you're next, if you don't toe the line. Go Shopping! Support the Troops!

My simple passive resistance tactics?:

1) Don't buy anything unless you know personally who made it (or it's a used item);

2) Organize your affairs so that you don't pay any federal taxes;

3) Speak out loudly in public places your observations on the utter corruption of the federal government;

4) Cancel your cable and quit watching TV.

4) Have an escape plan.

5) Enjoy life! Fuck the miserable passive audience culture and the zombie robot authoritarians who police it.

Fucking unbelivable the parallels between now and the '30's and the rise of fascism.

The entire Federal Government apparatus is corrupt. Including Mr. Obama, who has revealed that for him, it's business as usual - favors for corporate interests who fund his campaign.

I won't be voting for him - what a complete disappointment.

The best we can hope for, I fear, is that other countries will take on the burden of "justice", charge these criminal fascist scum masquerading as an "administration" with war crimes, and the entire corrupt crew will be unable to enter any country other than the outlaw empire USA and their employers in Dubai and other Persian Gulf states.

Which is pretty much Bush World anyway.

The Corporatist Puppet States of Empire America will keep them in luxurious retirement. And Cheney can't get to far away from his blood supply machine.
