@Roger A- They represent a lot of Americans

But don't include me in your "us".

The unsustainable we are driving the Hummer over the cliff.

Not me. Not me. Not me.

If you include yourself in the "us", you're part of the problem.

And Bush IS a boogeyman. Ask any bombed out Iraqi family.

@Be-Bop - I cain't ignore

the opaque metaphor of yer words.

Puzzling, why must we mask the truth in ellipsis, like Isaiah?

Dark times indeed.

@sysprog - Thanks for Russian fascism update

Authoritarians prosper in scary times. The evil empire is making the times much much scarier. Why? Because it's ruled by fascists.

We have met the evil empire, and it is us. Spreading fear and fascism all over the world. Brought to you by Bushco, subsidiary of GE, Phizer, Exxon, Lougheed-Martin, Ford, and Ponzi.

Krupp and Thiessen would feel right at home in today's WHite House.

@Timberman - I hope you're right

Although I think "off-course" is more than a little mild to describe the predatory corrupt out-of-control mess our federal government has become.

I do agree that it's important to be up close and personal with others, working for good, not mere ciphers receiving instruction from the idiot box.

Or, may I add, disembodied commenters connecting tangentially in fora such as this.

If we were moved less by ideas and more by human contact, we might be human beings rather than sophisticated, disconnected, sad savages.

Mencken Said it Best:

"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed -- and hence clamorous to be led to safety -- by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary."

Clinton is part of the Syndrome Glenn Identifies

She IS the Democratic establishment candidate. And she has never repudiated her vote authorizing the War-monger-in-Chief to invade Iraq. It seems to me that she is deliberately "talking tough" in order to offset her weakness in the face of warriors and warrior talk.

Contrast this with Obama, who has consistently opposed this illegal, immoral, evil, corrupt, shameful war. On this issue alone, Obama is the candidate.

Incidentally, I caucused in Washington yesterday. In my precinct, over 200 people caucused (vs. 60 in 2004). The excitement was a tangible thing - and the vote went 85.4% Obama and 13.6% Clinton, yielding 12 delegates for Obama (of which I'm one), and 2 for Clinton.

This was repeated across the State - in only one county did Clinton get more delegates than Obama - all the rest were majority Obama. (In my county, Huckabee was followed by Paul, with McCain a distant third in the Republican caucuses).

To me it's a pretty clear choice - between more of the same with Clinton, or a new approach with Obama. And check out some of the tactics Clinton's campaign used in Nevada to subvert the caucus process - truly she is Republican-light, including cheating and attempting to disenfranchise Obama supporters.

I can totally understand how Clinton has been swallowed up by the corporate consumption machine (and WAR is the ultimate consumer). And the risk of Obama succumbing is very real. The corruption is pervasive, powerful, subtle in its techniques, and very very rich. But why vote for the already-corrupted? People are hungry for someone who speaks the truth and is clean.

WSJ Editorial Page goes from Bad to Faux

I cancelled my subscription, despite the high quality of the regular journalism and editing in the WSJ. Too bad - just another prostituted tool of the corrupt corporatist regime.

Lies. Liars. Scum.

Can Bush Pardon Himself before he fucks off?

I don't think so - any other opinions/actual knowledge?

If not, what (besides sell-outs like Hary Reid and Nancy Pelosi) stops the DOJ under Obama from charging Bush with his numerous crimes in office and putting him away for a long long time?

American Talibaners smell like Barbecue and Right Guard

not like stinky garlic camel sweat.

Plus they get someone else to do their killing for them, since their fat asses are stuck in front of their keyboards.

Funny that the worst supporters of Amerika are those who have been beaten and persecuted by Amerika - Southerners and Mormons. Stockholm syndrome?

Original article: GOP politics in a nutshell

Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars

Fucking Fascist Liars. And Jay Rockefeller is a traitor. If his mother weren't dead (and hopefully spinning rapidly in her grave), he would sell her to gain advantage.

The entire US oligarchical system is decadent, inbred, and corrupt. These people need to be brought down, unquestionably humbled and beaten. And many belong in jail, including most members of the Bush junta.

The counter-revolution was a total success and the Tories are firmly in charge. It was nice while it sort of lasted, this great experiment in democracy on a continental scale. WHy do these people hate America so much? (besides their greed and lust for power, I mean).

Cognitive Dissonance is suspect in later research

but the "Conservative" (aka authoritarian) movement is fueled by cognitive dissonance. The hostility, rage, and projection which animates its zombies is the expression of extreme cognitive dissonance between the stated ideas of the movement and the reality of its practices. So the complete contradiction of Mukasey/McConnell's arguments are actually archetypical of the entire house of cards.

Here are a few more, Stated Ideal: Actual Practice

Freedom:Surveillance

Free Speech:Loyalty Oaths

Bringing Democracy:Bombing Civilians

Clear Skies:Lowered Emission Standards

Less Government:Record Spending

Healthy Forests:More Clear-cutting

Supporting Families:Reducing Schip coverage for children

Ask your religious conservative friends who in scriptural terms is "the father of all lies", and who these liars are therefore serving.

Babylon. The Red Whore rides this elephant.

@RMP - "Father of all lies" = "UDO"

Arrived at totally independently. Great minds clearly think alike, good sir. (Fools seldom differ, it is also said....;>) )
