I think she is done
[Read the article: What will Hillary Clinton do?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I'm not sure that she can rationalize waiting in line as a Senator, which is apparently what you have to do in that arena.
I'm also not sure that she would be happy as a Gov, even of a state like NY. That is a move that is designed to get you into a position to be President, not as a concolation prize.
She has talent and drive, and I think that it is un fortunate that she became involved in a competition that rewards unsavory activity. It is all too easy to start down the slope of petty and gotcha and racial and gender and class politics when the "talent and drive" are not enought to beat your competition.
I'd like to see her find something that allows for positive and fulfilling use of her strengths.
Can anyone make an argument that Al Gore has not "won" in finding his calling? That his current endeavors allow him to accomplish more than he ever could as POTUS? That he is now heard and beloved? That the challenge he thinks is the most pressing of the modern era is now starting to be addressed because of his actions? What would he be doing as President that could compare to his work with the environment?
Hillary could potentially have the same impact with health care. She could team up with Edwards in his quest to reduce poverty in America - an effort that targets many of the groups that gravitated towards her in this primary. She could accomplich much and gain some sort of redemption.
I have been highly frustrated and angry by how Hillary has sought this nomination since February. But I wish her this type of sucess. for her sake and ours.

AKA Missing the Point
[Read the article: What will Hillary Clinton do?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Al Gore did not do anything wrong either - but was not liked by a significant part of the country that now respects and admires him. What is more, he has made them open their ears to one of the most important message of our time. Environmental issues hit the tipping point in this country over the last few years, and he can count that as a success.
So too, could Hillary.
But continue to lash out, carry it how you want to. If I get angry with you and Hillary I just play into your hands, and no good comes of that.

Redeem in the non-theological sense
[Read the article: What will Hillary Clinton do?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Is more akin to a recovery. Gore recovered from a blow that would have finished most people. He went from a low to a high.
You are citing the theological definition.
Political capital is useless if you cannot use it. And, since her poitives have gone down among members of her own party, I hardly see this being a high point of likability - espeically when most GOP voters think she killed Vince Foster. Get real.
You may be right, but I see this as a way she can do the most good and fully utilize her strengths. Or she languises in the Senate or waits for 2012. Those latter two options are - from what I have seen and in my opinion - not going to be compelling for her.
We'll see. I do not see her fading away from the scene. You seem to think I am picking a fight, but that was as close as I can get to an "they all lived happily ever after" scenario for her.

These speeches
[Read the article: Obama and the Holocaust]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I'm not sure why politicians - who take time to add something new to the stump speech - cannot thoroughly memorize the details. I mean, the whole point he was trying to make was lost - and will never be given thought - because he blew the name of the camp.
Automatic assumption is that he "made it up" - even if the substance of the story and all points of it that matter are grounded it truth.
But it is just something for everyone to jump on. Watch McCain spin this into a reason why he cannot defend Israel, AKA "the 51st State".
And unless Hillary is constantly in danger of being sent to a concentration camp, and this particular camp was never liberated and continues to operate, then this is not on par with the RFK thing.

One word in response this ludicrous article....
[Read the article: A new low in Clinton bashing]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Dude.

Probably

Typical White People
[Read the article: Obama and the Holocaust]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Hmmm, which is worse...
1) Saying 'typical white people' one time and one day on Sportstalk WIP? And then running an inclusive campaign.
2) Modeling the last 3 months of your campaign to be against 'typical black people' and in favor of 'hard working white people'?
One day....versus three months; one blurb....versus an entire platform; drawing from a diverse group of voters...versus getting only the votes of Appalachian racists. Hmmmm. I cannot decide on that. Someone please help me. It is a real tossup.
Quite a head scratcher.
And yet, Kimbah, you didn't even get to Harvard despite being a cretin. That was 100% of their admissions for the first 200+ years of existence. Ya gonna start on the Irish Catholics next - we took all your Notre Dame football scholarships. You obsolete person, you!

yeah, it was supid to say
[Read the article: Obama and the Holocaust]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]And I cringed when he said it.
But most white people of that era were racicts. It was pre-Civil Rights. They were 'typical white people'.
Watch "The War" on PBS or "Black Magic" on HBO and see how blacks - even in uniform - were treated.
German POW's could eat in Southern diners where black servicemen were forbidden. And that was cultural, not the acts of a few.
It was not the best of times out there - The Greatest Generation had a racists streak.

Well played, sir
[Read the article: Obama and the Holocaust]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]That headline was a nice touch.
Have you noticed how scripted McCain seems now that he is reading off the teleprompter. He is stressing the wrong part of the words. He needs toget off that, he seems like a creepy robot.

Confusion over geography
[Read the article: Obama and the Holocaust]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Here is some intelligent insight on why people become confused or cannot remember the location of specific places and events. Well worth the time to listen to, and will likely further the dialogue...
