What we don't need is another ELITIST: MCCAIN
*Legacy baby with bad grades and little intellectual curiosity
*Never worked a single day in his life off the tax payer payroll (well except those handouts from daddy-in-law by trophy wife number 2 -- note: not her fault he's a creep -- she married a man just like dear old dad)
*SO RICH he can't remember how many houses he owns (or was that just pre-senile dementia?)
*Spent more on upkeep of homes last year than in charitable contributions
*Believes in devalution of government (i.e., we've got ours up here now let's not help any of those who might want to climb up)
What we do need is the ELITE: OBAMA
*Born to working class parents; raised by mother/grandparents
*Top grades in top schools ALL on scholarships and loans (which he paid off himself)
*Made it by his own work (Community Organizer, Civil Rights Attorney, Constitutional Law Professor, wrote his own books)
*Owns one (1) home with a mortgage in a two income, working family, married to the same woman as he started with!
*Believes in giving us a hand up, not a hand out.
And, by the way...when did it become fashionable for Americans to prefer stupid to smart? liar to honest? incompetent to exceptional?
Anyone who has lived through the past 8 years of Bush/Cheney can not possibly want another four of the same...oh, actually, worse...McCain isn't just BushII...He's BushMean.
The most telling comment coming out of the Biden as VP news cycle comes from John McCain.
Biden's "kitchen table" comment regarding McCain's inability to remember how many houses he has and how out of touch he is with the reality of life in the "middle class" (or what is left of it) touched a key failure of McCain's.
When asked by Katie Couric of CBS about the comment McCain's response, as incredible as it may seem was Noun--Verb--POW--my wife is rich.
HOW SAD that over 40% of likely voters believe this mean-spirited, free-loading, feeble old man is worthy of leading our country.
And, just a post-script...
When polling "likely voters" the pollsters pull from lists of registered voters who have voted in the past two elections. NOWHERE are the pollsters including the millions of newly registered Democrats brought into the process by Senator Obama.
In my state (NC) alone the R's have registered 69,000 to the D's 270,000 since January--that's about a 4:1 advantage.
The most depressing thing about the choice of Sarah Palin is that, had she waited 8 years she might very well have been ready to be a heartbeat away from the most important job in the world.
The second most depressing thing is that so many in the media just parrot the phrase "she has more executive experience than Obama." This "experience" of 20-months as Gov. of Alaska, a state no larger than Austin, TX, is less impressive than my experience managing my small business! And, by her own words, she doesn't even know what the VP does!
You want management/executive experience look at Senator Obama's experience the past 20-months brilliantly running a national campaign!
And, to compare Palin's experience as a sportscaster, on the PTA, as Mayor of Tinytown then Gov. of Alaska to Obama's history of Community Organizer, Civil Rights Attorney, Constitutional Law Professor, 8-years in the IL Senate and his term as a US Senator...I'm speechless at the stupidity of the media, McCain and, anyone who hears the Republican's claims and doesn't pee their pants from laughing so hard!
And, by the way...Executive experience isn't all it's cracked up to be. What executive experience did Washington, Adams, Jefferson, LINCOLN, Roosevelt (FDR), Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, or Regan have? NONE!
It all boils down to judgement and temperament, something McCain has in spades...it's just poor judgement and bad temperament! God save us from McCain/Palin.
WAAngel is so right-on that there is little left to say except that Palin left me cold and angry.
As a woman, I'm sick of Palin, Fiorino and their group claiming gender bias...they may where skirts, but when they choose to play in the big leagues they need to buck up and stop whining (which is just what they said about Hillary...).
Palin is "W" in a skirt...cowgirl diplomacy...shoot first, ask questions later.
The really scary part of this is that if the Palin/McCain ticket wins I'll have to pray that McCain DOESN'T drop dead!
YOU SAID: Elitists of the world unite, you have nothing to loose but your vanity. Elitist?
How could a magazine that calls itself "Salon" not be elitist?

You mock Salon, yet here you are, reading Salon. Humm...
There are really two words in play here: Elitist and Elite
McCain/Republicans = Elitist (considers themselves better)
Obama/Democrats = Elite (actually ARE better)
That's really what you can't stand...and let's ask these questions:
Why wouldn't we want the Elite--the Best and Brightest as our President?
Why would we want to settle for a President who barely graduated, 894th of 899 and a VP who took 6 years and 7 schools to get a degree in communications to "lead" us?
Haven't we already suffered enough?
