Original article: The dumbing down of the GOP

lies lies lies yeah

after doing some reading and watching this morning, i think we need to stop focussing on sarah's attitude. it doesnt matter if she is phony, deluded, or condescending.

it DOES matter that she lied about darfur (she was AGAINST alaskan divestment).

tbat she left the tiny town of wasilla 20 million in debt (can that possibly be true? can someone respond to that for me?).

she knows the obama-ayers tie is bullsh*t, but americans eat it up - democratic pubdit's opinions aside.

i guess we could just start there, really.

Original article: The dumbing down of the GOP

me again

ok, i just found a transcript of th debate.

i couldnt find ANYWHERE that gwen called sarah dear, and when i watched it i didnt hear dear, and my friend i watched it with, doesnt remember dear.

so. was that a total republican fabrication? my god. it is all too effed up.

last night, for the first time, i saw the "pickens plan" ad. asked the bf (a republican in libertarian clothing), who t boone pickens is. he said he didnt know. i said "you cant guess? because i can." i said i bet he is some guy with rights to offshore drilling. and we broke out the computer.

t boone is the head of BP Capital and tho he, on one side of his mouth, is all about alternative energy....

on july 22 of this year he told wolf b to "take the west coast, take the east coast, take anwr, take it all."

and on october 3, he and sarah palin met to "get to work."

i dont care anymore about her winking! i care about why are these things NOT being talked about??

please discuss!

Original article: Nobody's dummy

how pretentious can you get?

"shapely syncopated syllables?"

camille? do give it a rest.

this totally reminded me why i can't stand to read you, and my best guess is those who do read you have no idea what you are talking about.

"hot quivering jello adolescence?"

"i can scorn yale because i have my advanced degree from there ?" camille - you are a best selling widely respected (emperor's new clothes) author, who can really "turn" a phrase. umm, how did yale screw you over again? oh wait. they didnt. nice university dropping, though.

articles like this are EXACTLY why many americans foolishly feel that to be intellectual is bad. they mistakenly think this is what passes for intellectual. in fact, it is a bunch of pretentious, self-important, convoluted drivel.

Original article: The rap on Palin

eh, not much to it, really.

glad to see so many of the comments on here feel that she should not have been given a chance to "play the good sport" after the hatred she has spewed into this race. i hear you can get an obama lawn jockey now, for 500 dollars. then you have the obama food stamp parody. i have heard but not seen (not sure i can bear it), obama hung in effigy.

that lorne allowed her to be on the show, whether it was to be lampooned or not, is inexcusable.

i am very glad to hear amy and tina didn't shake her hands, and i hope that was real. it is the only way i can maintain respect for them - to think they appeared with her only under protest and without sucking up to someone they so clearly despise.

i turned the tv off as soon as i saw palin was on last night, but i watched amy's rap above. it was pretty marvelous.

That poor girl

I feel sorry for her. She is a mere child, as anyone over the age of 40 can attest. I hope she gets the help she needs.

Original article: How wrong they were

This is very healing

I believe when people were speaking last night, talking about healing and joining together for the common good, they actually meant things like this.

WE WON.

RIGHT WON.

DECENCY WON.

we can stop harping now, and start working together, bc if we dont, if BEING right is more important than joining together, then even obama wont get much done, and all this was for naught.

Pretenders

pretending this article is for ANYTHING but to mock and say "i told you so." we don't need salon's article to know that pundits get it wrong. you try TALKING for a living, and see how often you wind up looking foolish. obama would think this was totally pathetic and unproductive if he had time to read it.

@XH

hi there,

voted obama, took the bus to PA to go door to door for obama. watched the returns with my child. watched obama's speech last night with him, and then for good measure we watched mlk's i have a dream speech. my kid is baffled by racism and knows that the ONE thing i will disown him for when he grows up, is if he becomes a republican. i have wept, with joy and disbelief, 10 times since obama won. i am, for the first time in a LONG time, proud to be an american.

so, no, not a stumper for the right.

but fail to see how gloating and calling people names is helping this country to move forward.

whatever.

@ joemamma

yes! glad to see someone who agrees. i TOO thought there was no way this country was ready to elect a black man. thats the bottom line. but how happy i am to be wrong! this continuing to attack after we won is bizarre and unexpected, isnt it?

i guess it just goes to show that you cant make some people happy....

@jloughry

umm, you paid real good attention, i guess.

he was not governor, he was mayor of new york city.

i assume you were too young when that day occurred to know.

go ahead and have your rant.

maybe all these ungracious cr*ppy comments are made by disgruntled repubs, to make obama supporters look bad?

bc man, you people are INSISTING on making yourselves look bad, here.
