Christina didn't leave Burke at the altar...
[Read the article: Finale wrap-up: "Grey's Anatomy"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Burke left the altar before she got there. So she stalled, but Burke was the one who ultimately ended it.

if i were a muslim...
[Read the article: Veiled women allowed to vote]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Wearing a veil isn't only a sign of submission, it's also visible assertion of Muslim identity. If I happened to be a Muslim, I'd be tempted to wear a veil just to prove that I wasn't ashamed of my heritage, to flip the bird to all the pseudo-tolerant Islamophobes trying to tell me what I should believe and how I should behave.

not everybody expected or hoped for failure
[Read the article: Hit her, baby, one more time]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I don't doubt that there were many others out there who considered it as hopeless and degrading as Traister seems to, but let's not forget that Britney's new single "Gimme More" did have a lot positive buzz going for it, and I for one was truly hoping to see her make a comeback on Sunday.

lw needs some perspective
[Read the article: I want a perfect wedding, but my in-laws are trashy]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]1. It's very unlikely that LW's "trashy" almost-sister-in-law deliberately/accidentally got pregnant in order to "interfere" with her wedding.
2. Having a perfect, conflict-free, baby-free, annoying-relative-free wedding is a lot less important than having a good marriage, which will be affected by the state of LW's relationships with her relatives. It's not really worth it to piss off your husband's brother and his family for one day.
3. The fact that the brother met his girlfriend through a GED class doesn't really give LW the right to dismiss her as "trashy." What is trashy about trying to make up for bad choices made in the past? What is trashy about trying to procure an education for yourself?

Unfair, unproductive generalizations
[Read the article: No man? No hajj]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Nulla,
Here at Salon, I hope we're sophisticated enough not to equate Islam with rape and stoning also.

what's more oppressive...
[Read the article: Spanish conservatives: No more sexist symbols!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Encouraging women to cover their hair or discouraging women from going to school? Depriving Muslim women of educational opportunities based on their religiosity is counterproductive to the extreme.
